Origin/History: Reports of mysterious ghost islands seen in different parts of the world at different times often plagued the minds of young adventurers. A volunteer expedition was even organized to investigate this phenomenon, but it was never found, even with leads. The drifting archipelago was dubbed a myth and the expeditions were called off.
Things changed when the first foreigners set foot on the islands. These people turned out to be simple fishermen who had lost their way in the ocean due to a storm. They were carried by the current of the archipelago and washed up on its shores, where they were met by the native inhabitants, called kurvedans. Fortunately for the fishermen, they were welcomed, fed, watered, and warmed, and they were also told the secret: the islands were surrounded by a current and traveled the oceans like a ship. The only way to reach them was to sail towards them, not behind them.
Upon the fishermen's return, the expedition gathered again. Arriving at the location indicated by the fishermen, the ships anchored and waited, and to everyone's surprise, what they had been waiting for happened - the islands sailed by and took the fleet with them.
Thus began the well-known history of the archipelago and the outside world, alternating between ups and downs.
Climate/Geography: The Drifting Archipelago is a group of floating islands that travel the world thanks to underwater currents created by the supreme god Naga'Ron. The inhabitants describe this phenomenon as "a sea serpent, swimming in front of the island and pulling the land behind it," hence its name, but how accurate these statements are is unknown. It is known that these currents are variable not only in their direction but also in the temperature they carry. Warm currents, mixing with cold ones, bring subtropical climates to the islands, sometimes forming wetlands and beaches of different kinds, although this depends greatly on the archipelago's location in the ocean and the time of year. The island's history is marked by cases of severe cooling and anomalous heat, which the archipelago's inhabitants remember with undisguised shivers, but as Naga'Ron planned - the liquid in the body must constantly move for life to continue.

Wildlife: The Drifting Islands were isolated for a long time, so the terrestrial life on them is very diverse and unique.

Fauna: The most recognizable animals originating from the islands are the sharkipo - semi-aquatic lizards with a kind disposition and sensitivity to training. They were very popular with residents of other zones as pets. In the past, sharkipo were widespread throughout the world, but the healing properties of their skin led to their extermination. Surviving individuals remained only on the archipelago and are carefully guarded, until their full restoration under breeders' care.
Goverment/Politics: The archipelago's government is a kurvedan monarchy with a constitution drafted by Naga'Ron during the dawn of the islands' existence. Power and religion are inseparable, and only through prayers can residents influence the movement of the archipelago and the temperature of the currents.
After Naga'Ron's sacred creations - animals called sharkipo - were exterminated in the outside world for their valuable skin, the borders of the archipelago were closed to outsiders, free trade was interrupted, and the export of animals and plants from the archipelago was completely banned. Over time, the restrictions eased, but with some nuances. Roughly speaking, a scholar from other zones cannot export an island specimen without signing a huge amount of paperwork and swearing that their experiments will not harm any living creature. Also, for serpentians to grow and sell plants, they need permission from the state to use the land responsibly. But even so, monthly checks will be carried out, and High God forbid you cut down a state bush. Therefore, farms are the property of the wealthy population or those who have the nerves to engage in this activity with alternative occupations.
Hunting is licensed, and only a resident born/spawned far from the nearest body of water can obtain it. These are the kurvedan religious communities in the depths of the island, few in number, even more isolated than the archipelago itself. They do not harm the ecosystem, do not use currency, find a use for everything, and do not like it when outsiders interfere in their affairs. The state tries not to cross paths with them due to their great commitment to tradition.
Traps and snares that harm animals are prohibited on the sea serpent archipelago.
Culture: As reflected in politics, the culture of the serpent archipelago is obsessed with preserving its uniqueness and isolationism, largely taken from the kurvedans - the islands' indigenous inhabitants. In memory of the extinct sharkipo, during the isolation period, serpentians refused to eat the meat of large animals, and this became culturally entrenched. All animals born on the archipelago are bred to be rescuers, fishers, couriers, pets, guards, riding animals, but never raw materials.
Serpentians cannot be called vegetarians, as their diet consists of a huge variety of seafood. Legally, there is no ban on meat, and it is imported to the market along with sea caravans. It has become something of an exotic dish for residents, purchased for holidays.
Aesthetics: Serpentians have taken much of the kurvedan culture and prefer open clothing made of multi-layered fabrics symbolizing the renewal of snake skin. Royal persons use armor and dresses made of golden scales.
