THE TCP TYPE PREFERENCE SURVEY
#1
Hello HOMEBREW DEVIANTS FORUMS. In the name of market research, curiosity, and sharing fun facts about yourself I am interested in hearing your thoughts about TCP types. for your convenience I am including a link to the TCPdex right here

Please answer as many or as few of these questions as you like, in no particular order, with as much or as little detail as you want:

  1. What TCP types do you like?
  2. Do you have favorite TCP type(s)? What are they?
  3. Are there particular TCP characters or individual designs that you like, whether they belong to you or someone else?
  4. What kinds of TCP types would you like to see more of?
  5. Regardless of your opinion on them, what typings would you consider to be most iconic? Most appealing? Most unique or interesting?

personally i think i struck gold designing vintage type. all time favorite. astronaut type is another favorite and also one i designed but to be fair i tend to design tcp types for things i am obsessed with

i tend to really like abstract types, toy-themed typings, and the building-based storage types. bedtime, bear trap, mask, gift shop, smoke, snowman, and computer type are all very good. i also like types based on morbitian species, like OBJ, botley, snuglin and flexin

my absolute favorite TCP character of mine is definitely Imposter, the Astronaut/Suspicion hybrid type. yes thbey were originally a joke but i reallly like them.

most "iconic" typeings to me are basic, collision, snake, tent, corpse, touch, and insect. the truth come out: if you talk about 1 TCP type enough it will become iconic to me. i think imaginary friend is a very cute and interesting one

may add more later

Q: What TCP types do you like?
A: god this is a hard one bc i like so god damn many. in general i really like the abstract and body type categories, but every group has at least a few i really enjoy

Q: Do you have favorite TCP type(s)? What are they?
A: corpse is always my immediate thought for this question but i have a whole damn obsidian doc dedicated just to keeping track of the types i like bc there are so many. glitch type is definitely up there. claustrophobia type. lan party type. trash type. portal type. jack o lantern type. cage type

Q: Are there particular TCP characters or individual designs that you like, whether they belong to you or someone else?
A: i think corrosion from maze trials vol. 1 seems like a really interesting character. i really like the characters ive seen from vol. 2 as well though i haven't had the chance to go through it proper yet. also i have this thing
[Image: 2-A2.png]
i also have this glitch type i got through grandma sim YEARS ago that ive always wanted to do something with but i like have no idea what

Q: What kinds of TCP types would you like to see more of?
A: that is a good question. i always love seeing new body types but i would actually really like to see more storage types in particular - or maybe more form types just for the sheer breadth of things that encompasses

Q: Regardless of your opinion on them, what typings would you consider to be most iconic? Most appealing? Most unique or interesting?
A: basic is an obvious choice here but otherwise tent, citrus, robot, engine, and corpse (again) always come to mind as some of the first types i ever saw. and iron snail of all things

1) What TCP types do you like?
we like a lot of different kinds of TCPs, but our favorite categories are Abstract, Form, Body, and Creature- both to make and to have.

abstracts are interesting in how they have very simple shapes/outward appearances, and you really have to push the marking work and conveying things Efficiently, but also- there's a unique appeal to their status as essentially mini-gods, and what those pressure put on them.

body types are probably our top faves, for obvious reasons. you can do a lot with em!

form types give us Material/Object Autism. i am tired i cannot explain this more this is actually the last part of the survey i am writing

we really vibe with weapon types on a narrative level, but we've felt disconnected with them for a while...maybe it's time to bring up some interesting stuff there?

2) Do you have favorite TCP type(s)? What are they?
alright specific faves is really fucking hard but ill try to list some all timers from each category.

ABSTRACT: Horror (genre), Collision, Revenge, Bedtime, Vintage
BODY: Touch, Claustrophobia, any of the slime types, Multiplicity
CREATURE: Tiger, any of the cat variants, Ghost Hunter, Zombie, ouuugh touys
FORM: any of the blanket types, Pillow, also ouuugh toys, Pin Cushion
NATURE: Waterfall, Space, Constellation, Botanical Garden
FOOD: any of the cookie types, Candy, Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Flan
STORAGE: Tent, anything with internal NPCs/pocket dimensions, weirdos like Vessel and Skull
MACHINE: Virtual Pet, Television, Computer
WEAPON: Knife, Bear Trap, Sticky Hand, Caltrops

3) Are there particular TCP characters or individual designs that you like, whether they belong to you or someone else?

we have way too many of our own TCPs to really pin down a small number, and similarly, way too many favorites of other peoples' as well. i guess if i had to give a generalized answer to this, we like designs/characterizations that push the themes of a typing AND how that fits into the worldbuild culturally, whether that's through embracing it, subversion, or anything in between. fun angles/ideas are the best.

4) What kinds of TCP types would you like to see more of?

more weapon types as a priority, but machine and storage would be great too- we just don't have that many of them (this is partially my fault)

self indulgence-wise, more toys, materials, and Weird Horror Stuff.

5) Regardless of your opinion on them, what typings would you consider to be most iconic? Most appealing? Most unique or interesting?

i mean tent type for sure for iconic, tent and knife are the OGs, as are collision and snake. the typeless design is of course also appealing, but those four are the ones i think people who are older fans recognize on sight. more modern would probably be molded chocolate. characters!

most appealing...well, it's interesting. i feel like there's not only appeal in the designs themselves, but what the community and projects do with them. facebanks come to mind- obviously they are freaky little guys with design appeal on their own, but part of the love does come from them being beloved in the community itself, and elevates them. it's worth keeping in mind stuff like that.
