[IN PROGRESS] Partly's Honeycomb Hunt

"It's an abandoned mine...there's probably a litany of dangers to the unprepared..."

"They probably don't want random people wandering in there. We're adventurers."

Lumin walks to the side of the brambles, looking for a way around.

[skinstealer]

"That's right! We're adventurers, and we're all prepped up! No need to worry one bit!"

Partly scampers ahead as well, pacing around in front of the brambles. "Hmm...anybody got something to deal with this? I could probably jump it, but I don't want to go it alone. Would make this whole venture pointless."

"I could probably wiggle through... but thats not all that helpful either. I also have the option to set it on fire, but... that also doesn't feel like a good idea in a forest."

[Ignispark]

Dia points to her utility knife.

"I think, with enough time we can probably cut out a swath, but it would take a while...especially if the brambles are particularly tough...other than that, we could try to find some fallen branches, or small logs from before and make a makeshift ramp? I suppose. A bit precarious, but it could work? Or if a tree looks particularly well positioned, you could try to climb it and hop over that way...provided you can take a fall decently well.

Any thoughts?"

"Cutting through is probably our best bet, but we only have the one knife. Maybe Dia could get to work making a hole, and the rest of us could look for logs and sticks to get a ramp going?"

[skinstealer]

"That sounds like a plan...I've got a knife as well, but I'm not too good with it. End up cutting my paws a lot by accident...I can try to help, though!"

Xey nod at Lumin and Vial. "I'd say you two can try to find the best stuff you can to make a bridge, or a ramp, or something- if Dia and I can make some headway on the cutting, it'll mean yall have to get less materials. "

Dia nods, softly sighing.

"I recommend taking your time with a knife, it's much better to get something done slowly than to risk a deep gouge...though in any case I should be able to help out with any accidents...anyhow, I concur with the above judgement. I'll get to work immediately...take a section a bit to my side and if I get done before you do, you can try to help remove sections of bits that have been cut off, or stray bits connected to the ground, I suppose."

She pauses for a moment.

"Though you're welcome to take a rest if you wish, gather up cut off pieces only, or help get branches if you prefer. Either way I'll be cutting this bramble like it just stole my calzone."

Dia approaches the bramble and silently, carefully unsheathes the knife, placing its handle in her maw. She grasps a part of the bramble bare of thorns, before beginning to attempt to saw in with the knife.

Lumin nods at Team Knife. "Sounds good." They wait for Vial to follow before backtracking through the path, scanning the trees on either side for suitable materials.

[skinstealer]

Partly breathes a sigh of relief as Dia gets down to it, taking xyr time digging xyr knife out of xyr backpack and unsheathing it with more than a little hesitation. "I can take the side, yeah...but it's better for sure that you forge ahead. I just want to make sure I do my part."

Lumin's able to spot some sticks- thin ones, but surprisingly sturdy. Perhaps a lot of these could be used...

...or, some crumbly looking flat pieces, chipped off of a somewhat rotten log.

"Hmm." Lumin looks over the available materials. "The sticks might work as a base, and then we could lay the flat bits on top? We might have to make trips, but this seems like it should do it. I've got some rope if we need anything to bind things together with."

"Sure, that works for me!" They put their notebook back into their backpack and follow Lumin, putting sticks in the side pockets of their backpack and carrying them over to the rest of the group for bridge building purposes.

Lumin piles up any sticks Vial can't easily carry and piles them on top of the flat bits, forming a makeshift sled. They get behind the sled, placing their large claws on the end and preparing to push. "Would you mind steering, please? Just make sure I don't drop all this in a ditch or anything."

"Sure thing!" They move next to the wooden board, holding the plank in place and checking the path ahead.

Once Vial's ready, Lumin leans in and pushes the sled. It's pretty strong, and the two of them get up to a good speed once they've got the momentum going.

Dia is wordlessly slicing brambles, because she has a knife in her mouth and cannot talk. She occasionally glances over to see how Partly is doing.

The hazydaze is in a similar boat, fumbling a little as xey try to get a good angle for cutting. Xyr wide face doesn't work well with cutting...

...but the two of them are making decent progress, bit by bit!

They steer the board ahead towards the rest of the group.

The sled starts gaining more and more speed, zipping down the hill- and thanks to Vial's steering, just narrowly avoiding hitting the brambles themselves.

Partly jumps a little at the sudden arrival, but breaks into a wide smile. "Mmpphmph!"
Xey spit out xyr knife into xyr paw. "Good job!"

Dia finishes the cut she's doing before slipping her knife into its sheath and adjusting it to be secure.
