[DISCUSSION] Species Brainstorming Thread

here we discuss potential ideas for new species morphs and variants...a fun way to give commissioners (and team members) ideas of stuff to buy/make!

here's some things to keep in mind

morph- a subtype of a species, generally based on the "framework" of a species. species have various themes and recurring traits that define them as that species, such as karacels being based on types of cat/fur types, and flexins being based on types of parties. morbit evolution can also tie into the development of weirder morphs, such as planthopper neuroths being the result of neuroth movements towards a more peaceful and docile culture.

not all team members want to work with the more in depth morbit evolution mechanics, though- currently known team members down for it are:

variant- an example of a more specific appearance a morbitian can take within a morph's categorization- such as ghost mantis variant of a mantis neuroth, or a date variant of a lovestruck morph flexin. you can get as specific as you want with these, considering there are countless variants for any morph, and they're more a way to inspire more unique/granular designs than an official (in universe) categorization!

masque- type of masked creature (raccoons, lemurs, badgers, etc, not limited to mammals)

pippets- based on dice, coins, or other similar 'play' tools

Masques especially interest me, I feel like there's a lot of potential there. Maybe a masked sort of bird, like a Loggerhead Shrike?

A replix for a dead god like Velvet could be interesting, and a Fallow replix would be fun, given everything Fallow has going on. I wonder if they would be more or less prone to horror mutation...

For species that use a combo of inspo, can we just combine any two things that seem fun?

Fox ruffneck sounds cool... In general I don't think there are any morbit foxes yet (beat foxes don't count cause they are buppy)

selected- rattlesnakes, sea snakes, leviathan (mythical), hydra (mythical), eels maybe?
mothlie- unicorns + oleander hawk-moth, seer/fortune teller/oracle + comet moth, ghosts/spirits + coffee clearwings

gummi catfish- rope-like candy + eels, licorice + deep sea fish (anglerfish/etc.)
de'moneres- logo/brand card + advertisements, face cards + royalty, aces + societal outcasts/often characterized as rebels
masque- Southern Pink Underwing Moth Caterpillars, swans, tuxedo cats, hispaniolan masked curly-tailed lizard, dyeing poison dart frog

Thinking of a reversal of standard pinitelle - now it's a lightweight form that can fly on the wind! Paper could still carry a small amount of fluid inside. Maybe related to embolisms trapping air under the shell?

You've seen lithops and other small cacti with large flowers, right? Could be a land adaptation though a resinous skin excretion as lotions to keep skin moist were used.

Motlie - Pixie variant - an incredibly small variant of fae mothlie based on midget moths with those distinct feathery wings

• Aqua pet inspired botley with a small robot on the inside suspended in liquid and controlling a larger, fishtank-like suit
  
• Aquatic robot toy-inspired mermaids, i.e. hexfish, hexjellies, etc.
  
• Mutsu robot toy-inspired botley that is large and mech-like, appearing to be a habitat for the smaller mutsu-like semi aquatic robot that swims around on top. Maybe like a dual consciousness thing where the mutsu can leave the habitat bot to interact with other mutsu or swim through like a greater area.

Corvice/OBJ - Scarecrow Corvice to match the OBJ or Honduran white bat variants
Centinel - Mannatees or dugong, Hippos, Hyrax (closely related to elephants)

De'Moneres - Perhaps one with a crystal-tipped tail and crystal growths?

Courier - Surfing snail variant - with a lil flesh skirt for the bigfoot  or a Conch variant with goofy eyes

Neuroths - Leech morph - These can get real weird, considering some leeches have like 6 eyes and literally have a suction cup for a tail.

Shrouds - 

• Infested - a tangle of parasitic worms in place of eyes
  
• Branches - Their entire face is obscured by floating branches emerging from thin air, perhaps developed due to angel interference?
  
• Smoke - Smoke/fog/mist in place of eyes
  
• Swarm - A swarm of flying insects such as moths in place of eyes (keep em away from headlight morphs)
  
• Censored - A black bar covering the eyes entirely
  
• Shutter shades - Do I have to explain this one? I'm sorry
  
• Screen - Screens for eyes - maybe an artificial/robotic morph
  

Pinitelle - "Mimic" pinitelles inspired by other species or maybe gods like replix, similar to character-based piñata of our world
