  Ability Testing?
Posted by: skinstealer - 09-02-2021, 12:01 AM - Forum: [GENERAL_CHATTER] - Replies (15)

[TASTY_TREAT]:

has anyone else done testing with their ability's uses and limitations, either through an official research facility or on their own? i was spawned at the TCPdex Research Facility, and we did a lot of different volunteer tests...some of them really cool, and some of them really scary!

i'm curious as to other peoples' experiences with this kind of stuff, and am willing to share stories of my own!

  [RAFFLE] MYSTERY TCPS
Posted by: cosmo - 08-30-2021, 09:05 PM - Forum: [FORUM GAMES] - Replies (24)

hello everyone! this raffle is inspired by ace's door game raffle from a while ago. i generated a bunch of tcps using kalny and got themes from a friend to create these tcps. all of them are drawn by me and not traced off the bases, though the bases were used as reference! there is also a bonus tcp i came up with this morning whose typing was too fun for me not to try out.

the rules are simple! comment to enter for whichever tcps you like. you may enter for as many as you like but you will only be able to win one so keep that in mind. i might host a trading thread after the raffle is complete for people to swap around their tcps if interested. also, system members obviously don't count towards the one per person total, feel free to enter on behalf of system members as well! i will roll the raffles once i feel like there are enough entries.

Mystery TCPs:

ABOUT:

Hi, I'm Blush, and I'm a library type. I have a myriad of books, some of which are made from from my own memories...think of them as subconscious autobiographies. Like all library types, I also have an internal librarian type, who goes by Fluster. We aren't separate people, and they're kind of automated more than anything...but we may sign off on posts sometimes to indicate whose opinion is whose. I don't know if that makes sense.

Always willing to talk over books, especially horror and romance.  My favorite author is Shriek, and I highly recommend his books...even if they're a bit cheesy. Who knows, you might like them and enjoy something new and psychological. ^_^

I've also been described as a bit existential and overly philosophical...be sure to tell me if I go too far or weird you out.

Thanks for looking at my page...feel free to leave a comment if you want to try being friends or talk sometime.

  [SHOWOFF] real furniture hours
Posted by: Ignispark - 08-22-2021, 03:08 AM - Forum: [ARTIST'S_CORNER] - Replies (4)

[ABBERANT_INCANDESCENCE]:
hello! do you like furniture? do you want to know about what i've cobbled together. wait no longer. well, actually a bit longer for some of them. we're starting things off with something that's actually complete. i think it'd be silly to start with things i haven't gotten done.

unfortunately i can't get a good picture of the thing at the moment, so, while we're waiting i can instead entertain you with the knowledge of what it is, what its made of, and some of the thought behind it.

what is it? you ask. well, i'm glad you asked! SIMULACRUM OF KINDLING IN DEDICATION OF DISTANCE AND REFLECTION ON THE PRESENT AND FUTURE WITH REGARDS TO THE ENDEAVORS OF THE PAST is a piece that takes heavily from a series of letters between me and my pen pal, who, if they've managed to get things through, will also leave a comment here, hopefully. Anyhow, SOKIDODAROTPAFWRGTTEOTP is at its most basic form, an electric fireplace. it's wired up to produce some nice warmth and glow.

like many fireplaces, it's made as a spot to sit in front of. now, instead of fire, one of the great features of this is a bit of modification of a pre-existing device, gutted, rewired set up in an alcove at the front, and paired to a remote controller. some better speakers and some lighting alongside the aforementioned heating, and bam. you have the essence of comfort and inspiration. or something of that nature. a combination of the modern device and the beating heart of a home.

now you might notice i once again have yet to tell you what the device is. you're going to have to hold onto your hat a little longer. i'm not there yet! anyhow, so i mocked up a little. computer diagram of some shapes that will get you some idea of the thing uh, note. the actual thing isn't actually opaque, and its missing some of the other details but this should give you an idea of the shape and i'll get to the rest later.

Show ContentLARGE IMAGE:
so anyhow

you have something meant to resemble and perform a function of a storied part of a home. and you have a modern recreation of it. that alone isn't quite enough though, so it gets better. the piece itself is composed of translucent bricks of plastic. with the opaque adhesive, it forms a sort of grid! the aforementioned additional lighting is inside of the casing, casting a vibrant form of warmth that contrasts that of a fire. the remote controller has a section for controlling the lighting, flickering, heat, and sound. also of course, as with any worthwhile electronic thing you can see into, the gutted and rewired form of the original device, as well as the speakers and heating elements are visible through the casing.

now, you may think to yourself. what device encapsulates the same sort of importance as a fireplace, but has a unique charm and something interesting to say.

well, a pet would be a pretty good answer. to many, they are a decently old tradition, they capture warmth and safety, and well, of course are very unique.

but that's not a device you may object, but you can put your hand down. and also put your other hand down. no creatures were harmed in the making of this. shh. im talking virtual pets. in the misc bits i got from the pawn shop there was one that had a really charming creature and aesthetic but the device was kinda just an opaque brick, naturally, i decided it must be reworked. and i had this idea for a fireplace thing already so bam. this was the right answer. slam them together.

it was kind of a pain getting the thing working again, and getting some remote controls to properly work instead of the keys, but it was worthwhile, i think.

and, the combination of two imitations in a related form is pretty interesting, i think.

i've got a bit more to say on the matter but i have some work to get done so i'll continue this in a reply in a bit. i think i covered most of the main ideas behind the bit as well as the major features. i'll try to slap in anything i forgot or left out that makes sense to add. might write a small note about the actual virtual pet device and what it actually is like. i figured it'd be best to stick to the bits i actually did for this introduction though, so that might also very well be relegated to some other place that makes more sense.

feel free to ask any questions or commebts or whatever you have if you're reading this. i'll get to those when i can.

  [SELLING-WRITING] False Futures
Posted by: knux400 - 08-21-2021, 10:00 AM - Forum: [MARKET] - Replies (1)

You step into a cozy-looking old shack at the end of a pier, near several other local businesses selling fish and other wares. Inside is a TCP sitting at a tiny chair in the middle of a table.

"Hi! My name is Ponder, and I'm a fortune teller type. I offer readings for a reasonable price! Now, some clarification about my ability: I've got a particularly weird ability anomaly which makes it so my readings always show... 'false futures', as I call them. Basically, it's an event or series of events that could've happened had you made a different decision at a pivotal moment in your life, or if some circumstances had been different. So this isn't your real, actual future, but more of a... 'what if' scenario. I've learned to get pretty good control over my ability, and I can even take specific requests! It takes me more health to do it, but that's kind of what you're paying me for here."

They gesture to a large refrigerator behind them, presumably full of food-type products.

"So! You want to know what your life could've been? What you missed out on? Any... burning questions you want answered?"

"False Futures Incorporated claims no responsibility for physical harm, mental trauma, or property damage caused by readings. Readings are purely fictitious and have no relation to actual events. Take readings at your own risk. See pamphlet for full legal details."

This is a new commission type I've been thinking about- it's intended for gauntlet characters to see what their future challenges could've been, but really it could apply to any Morbit character. obviously anything written here is non-canon, and purely for fun. To commission me, send me a DM in the forum or on Discord and give me some information about your character, the scenario they're in, and what might end up happening. The more details you give me, the less I'll have to fill in the blanks myself- but you can also give me a character and just let me go nuts with them! It's up to you. also, you can choose to have your story displayed here as an example, or just keep it to yourself.

Some important rules:
-All characters involved must either be your own or used with the permission of the owner
-No 18+ content
-Morbit characters only, please

Pricing is currently kind of nebulous, but as a starting point I'm thinking around 10 dollars an hour is reasonable? We can negotiate based on the exact content of the story.

ABOUT: Hey there. I do some writing. It might be something to check out, if I manage to get something I'm willing to post, that is. You also might see me talk some or help with some of [ABBERANT_INCANDESCENCE]'s stuff. I made this account since they wanted me to be able to see when they posted information about their projects here. So, perhaps I'll also talk about a few of my projects. Once again, it's unlikely unless I get something I'm happy with, but, in any case, best of luck to you.

ABOUT: Hey there! Welcome aboard. Currently, I'm on a little bit of a journey, so you sea, I might be a touch late with some responses. Luckily I'm not moving again for a little bit, since the boat I'm hitching a ride on is at port, so things should be pretty calm. Currently, I'm also on the lookout for a nice spyglass, if anyone knows a good way to find those. Anyhow! I think, that covers the important bases. I might post a travel log or some notes or something here if I think I have something interesting to say.

Other than that, everything's alright. Boats are a lot more wobbley than you'd think.
