[WORLDBUILDING] - MONTHLY PROMPT DECEMBER 20 - GIFTS
#1
https://homebrewdeviants.com/forum/Threa...ER-20-Food <- Previous thread

This is a thread to discuss and ask questions relating to the monthly prompt from the current month's (December 2020) newsletter. Please do this here and not in the discord, as it will be easier to reference old topics here. This month, as we near a number of winter holidays, our minds have been filled with thoughts of a certain element of festivities, gifts! Giving friends, family, and -in some cases- total strangers gifts is something that just about everyone has some amount of experience with. We thought that this would be a sensible (and festive) topic for our worldbuilding discussion this month, and we're sure that with your help, we can flesh out some interesting details.

What are common gifts that each species values/gives? Are all of them tangible gifts? Do octoliere de'moneres simply believe that gracing another with their presence is a gift alone?

Do spinnerets wrap their presents in their own weavings/fabrics?

Do any regions have donation/toy drive-esque aspects to their holiday celebrations?

How are gifts given in various regions? Like how in some countries gifts aren't under a tree but instead put in yr shoes.

What about gifts that are like, chineese new year style envelopes of money or other practical things?

are there gifts given customarily toe certain kinds of people, like men get X women get Y, or like certain professions get customary gifts for holidays?

Do gods get like, offerings? if so do they get specific types of offerings on holidays?

are their any taboo gifts? stuff that it'd be alright to buy for yourself but would be in poor taste to give to others?

How do different zones feel about regifting?

How are gifts presented in different cultures wrapping wise? Are there any superstitions when unwrapping them? (such as the bridal shower "The amount of bows you break is the amount of kids you'll have" superstition)
