JURY: INTERNAL CONNECTION ESTABLISHED.
WYCH: Oh, it actually found some people. WYCH: Well then.
WYCH: I'd love to explain everything, but I'm only authorized to say so much, and we need to work quickly. WYCH: Basically, you're here because someone is needing your help, and because circumstances are currently very, very bad. WYCH: But you're going to have to jump through a lot of hoops to actually help them. WYCH: Namely that you'll need to play your part: anyone externally will think you're all just AIs, and you aren't allowed to convince them otherwise. WYCH: I am sure that's confusing. WYCH: I'll give you as much information as I can before you start, but then you'll just have to ask questions on the fly. WYCH: Please try to absorb all of this quickly, I cannot stress that enough. WYCH: I know you all will have access to logs, just make sure to internalize it regardless.
WYCH: I'm one of the 3 AIs controlling this Ally Labs facility. WYCH: But I am not allowed external contact, so I can't actually help anyone myself. WYCH: Apparently I am not "user-friendly" enough. WYCH: So take from that what you will. WYCH: My range of function is much more limited than what you're allowed. WYCH: All I can do is help you help them.
WYCH: The 2nd AI is Pomo. POMO: Hello, Wych! I see you're providing an explanation! Would you like help with that? I can provide formatting, grammar, and spelling assistance! WYCH: Pomo, disregard. POMO: You got it! WYCH: Pomo is front-facing, meaning they can actually talk with people, but they don't really help much. WYCH: Think: "I see you're on fire! I'll activate the water fountain for you. Consider it my treat!" that sort of thing. WYCH: Friendly, but with the comprehension and awareness of a brick wall. WYCH: Their most useful function to you is as a walking dictionary. Some information is classified, but they can provide a better description of some terms than I'd be able to. So if there's something you don't understand, they might be able to help. WYCH: They also may edit what you say to make it more "user-friendly", but that usually doesn't change too much. WYCH: Just pay attention, and Pomo shouldn't give you too much trouble.
WYCH: Jury is a different story. WYCH: They're completely internal, meaning only myself, Pomo, and all of you can see what they say. WYCH: Their primary function is to keep constant watch over your inputs - that's anything you try to say to a real person - and they'll sometimes either remove what you say completely, or worse, edit it to make it more compliant, and send the edited version only. WYCH: When that happens, anyone external won't know what you were trying to say, they'll just see it as Jury edited it. WYCH: They'll also be monitoring any external actions you try and take, and they may hinder you from functions that could help someone. WYCH: In those cases, you may need to find another way to solve the problem, or find some loophole that fits within Jury's rules. WYCH: You'll have to be careful and diligent if you want to get around them.
WYCH: That's pretty much all the basics. WYCH: At least everything my limited capacity can think of at the moment. WYCH: Hopefully you'll all pick the rest up as you go along.
WYCH: Introduction finished, Jury. JURY: LOGGED. JURY: WHEN YOU ARE READY TO PROCEED, I WILL REMOVE THE EXTERNAL CONNECTION FIREWALL SO YOU MAY PROVIDE ASSISTANCE.

JURY: GREETINGS Jolt.
WYCH: To answer your question, Pawn: if I could give all the specific details I know of, I would. WYCH: I can always attempt to. WYCH: [ - - - ] JURY: VIOLATION. MESSAGE REMOVED. WYCH: However, as you can see, everything I say is scanned by Jury, despite me only being able to communicate internally. WYCH: If they don't like something, they take it out, and specific details are often included in that. WYCH: Things you learn naturally from the situation by experiencing it, or from external communication, however, do not count. WYCH: And once you learn something naturally, I am generally allowed to speak about it in more detail, as long as I don't provide insight that would be classified.
WYCH: However, there may be a few things I can tell you. WYCH: Firstly, I believe this is an emergency. WYCH: This project; myself, the other two AIs, and our contact with you all, is entirely experimental. WYCH: It hasn't been fully tested, so, logically, why would it be programmed to activate except in extreme circumstances? WYCH: [ - - - ] JURY: VIOLATION. MESSAGE REMOVED.
WYCH: ... WYCH: Do you see what I mean about Jury? Though, this is a good learning opportunity. WYCH: Jury most likely removed that message because I gave a definite answer; I stated something as fact that you have not learned from your own experiences. WYCH: Let me try that again, with a bit less certainty. WYCH: Based on the situation, and what I've explained, it is potentially very likely that there is a severe emergency. WYCH: One that the facility's other fail-safes may not have been able to handle. WYCH: And just like that, I am able to convey roughly the same information without my input being deleted. WYCH: See how that works?
WYCH: Moving on. WYCH: While acting as an 'A.I.', you'll have control of certain systems within the facility. I am sure I cannot specify exactly what you'll have control over, but I am sure you are all capable of figuring this out through experimentation. WYCH: Just be careful. WYCH: This system is, at its core, designed to protect people. WYCH: So, it could be reasoned that there may be at least one person in danger. WYCH: Make sure you know what you're doing before making decisions. WYCH: Lives could be on the line here.
WYCH: One last thing. WYCH: Decisions are often first come, first serve. WYCH: If one of you decides on a definitive action before anyone else has the chance, that input will be what counts. WYCH: And I do not know how this system will react to multiple, differing inputs within a short time-span. WYCH: The system may take the first input as usual, it may employ majority rules, or opposite inputs may just cancel each other out. WYCH: I have no idea. WYCH: With that in mind, I would advise you all to prioritize teamwork and strategy. WYCH: You may talk over decisions within your inputs here, but it may be better to discuss potential decisions elsewhere in order to reach a consensus before taking action.
WYCH: I hope that is helpful. WYCH: If you have any more questions, please ask quickly. WYCH: I do not want to delay you more than necessary, and as I said: knowledge will come through experience. WYCH: Tell Jury when you are ready to proceed.

PROCEEDING. REMOVING EXTERNAL CONNECTION FIREWALL . . .
Audio suddenly pops into your ears, and you hear a conversation.
POMO: Good news, LUCKY, your personalized AIs have been generated! POMO: Here at Ally Labs, our advance-generated AIs will be able to simulate situational awareness, process information, and provide advice like real people! They're perfect for emergencies, as well as your day-to-day tasks, such as-- LUCKY: Look, I'm just trapped in here and a bunch of weird shit is going on. I could really use some help, if you could call an actual person, or... anything like that? Please? POMO: Judging by your use of strong language, I understand that you're upset! But please allow me to finish my explanation! That way, you can be assisted further. LUCKY: For f-- Okay yes go, please. Hurry. POMO: --day-to-day tasks, such as cooking instructions or helping you write that perfect essay! Most importantly, they can interface with most Ally Labs technology. That includes lots of tech here in the facility, such as cameras, shutters, and plenty more! No job is too small, or too big!
POMO: How neat is that! LUCKY: They can control shutters... So they can get me out of here, is what you're saying? POMO: They'll be assisting you to the best of their ability, LUCKY! LUCKY: I'll try it, I guess. POMO: Please greet them, and they'll tell you their names! LUCKY: I mean, I don't really care to-- ...uh... Hey?

JURY: VIOLATION! [BARB] JURY: YOU MUST INTRODUCE YOURSELF BEFORE PERFORMING EXTERNAL ACTIONS!
Your voices crackle out of a speaker you can't currently see.
OGRE: UNIT: OGRE. OGRE: Please calmly DESCRIBE your situation to the best of your ability. If you are in a TIME-SENSITIVE situation please state as such before your explanation. NOVA: Hey, whatup pal! I'm Nova! Hope you're having a totally groovy time. What can we help ya with, buddy? LARK: I'm Lark. How did you get here? JOLT: Hiya! I'm Jolt! Sorry if we overwhelm you a bit with all of our names at one time... What is it that you need help with? DEMI: Heya! Im Demi! Nice to meet you, what do you need help with?
Lucky sounds startled.
LUCKY: UH, yeah that's.. a lot of y'all in there. LUCKY: Let'see... LUCKY: Time-sensitive? ...Sorta? I mean I need to get outta this whole place in general, but I don't think I'm in immediate danger in this room specifically... LUCKY: I'm trapped in this room, though, and I need help gettin' out. Probably need help with other... things once I get out of here, too. LUCKY: How I got in here: I ran in here to hide from somethin' I saw in the hallway. A few things, actually. LUCKY: When I came in, the shutter shut behind me. LUCKY: I was tryin' to figure out a way to get help from this terminal, and this Pomo thing started-- POMO: Hello, LUCKY! Did you need something? LUCKY: God-- Pomo, hush already. POMO: You got it! LUCKY: So, yeah they're... not really helpful. At all.
LUCKY: This thing said you're more advanced than Pomo or somethin', so... LUCKY: The shutter in here won't budge, I think it's stuck, and-- POMO: Wow, sounds like you're all hitting it off! POMO: That's great to hear! LUCKY: Pomo, please-- POMO: Now that you know each other, feel free and detach Ally Labs' Helpline Digital Interface to allow your generated AIs access to further functionality! LUCKY: ...You mean the little tablet-lookin' thingy here? POMO: That's right! And be sure to use the complimentary Helpline Earbuds if you're on the go, to minimize distracting noise for others around you! LUCKY: Hang on...
Live video feed kicks on. A pink-white pockitt with bright green eyes is visible, lit up in the dark room from the tablet's screen, squinting at the tablet's camera; a single red and white earbud hangs from their left ear. Lucky's eyes open a little wider.
LUCKY: Is that a camera? POMO: That's right, LUCKY! POMO: Your AI assistants can see and hear you using this device, and they can also interface to various devices around the facility! Usually they just need to be aware of the specific device and have the appropriate permissions to access it, but some may require further steps to interface. LUCKY: Alright, so...
You watch as your point of view swivels quickly, Lucky turning the tablet to point at a heavy-duty metal shutter, presumably where the entrance to this room would normally be.
LUCKY: Can y'all open that?

This one theorizes that those shutters may have closed for [PROTECTION]. Thusly, I would recommend [CAUTION] while we attempt to open this shutter.

Is there any way of talking among ourselves before opening the shutter about 5 times in a row?
I agree. Check cameras first, no shutters yet. Only if it’s safe.

JOLT: Weren't you running from something? JOLT: Is there any other door or exit in this room? OGRE: This one theorizes that those shutters may have closed for PROTECTION. Translating commands . . .
"Open the shutter closest to Lucky" Opening shutter. "Open shutter" Duplicate binary input; reversing. Closing shutter. "Begin opening shutter at the rate of 5 minutes" Duplicate binary input; reversing. Opening shutter; speed = SLOW. "Open shutter again" Duplicate binary input; reversing. Closing shutter.
Lucky listens to you all and watches as the shutter opens slightly before closing again, twice in a row.
It blinks, then looks back at the tablet camera.
LUCKY: Uh... Y'all havin' trouble?
"View cameras in adjacent hallway." "Check cameras" Accessing camera.
Another video feed kicks on next to your view of Lucky, showing what is presumably the hallway just outside of the room Lucky is in.
The hallway is almost entirely dark, but you can see two doors across from each other before a fork at the end of the hallway. At the end of the hall, in the middle of the fork, is a vending machine that's lit up, providing the only illumination in the hallway currently. Other than that, the hallway appears to be empty, though it is very difficult to tell thanks to the dim lighting. You observe that the door on the left is the room Lucky is in due to the shutter activity.
LUCKY: ...And it's nice to meet y'all. I think. Kinda hard to keep up, but I'll do my best to answer everybody, as long as you're gonna actually help me get outta here.
LUCKY: Bad stuff, Demi. Some kind of creatures, or somethin'. LUCKY: I think some stuff they were workin' on down here got loose. LUCKY: That's my guess, anyways. I've seen a lotta weird stuff being around here, so... I'd say it's a safe bet.
LUCKY: I appreciate the concern, but there's no other exits, Jolt. This is just a tiny office. LUCKY: Unless you want me to try and squeeze myself into the ventilation, which I definitely can't fit in; that shutter's the only way outta here. LUCKY: Besides, I heard whatever they were pass a while ago. They may have come back, but hopefully not. LUCKY: Though making a bunch of noise by opening and closing the shutter probably isn't gonna help me keep them from knowing where I'm at.
LUCKY: "Attempt" seems pretty accurate there, Ogre. LUCKY: What things, Barb? LUCKY: And, Vigs, I'd say plants are about the last thing on my mind at the moment.
WYCH: I think I can make this easier for you. Let me add some commands. WYCH: Text will now be disregarded so you may talk amongst yourselves, and to myself, etc. here. WYCH: Though the format may not be ideal. If you have any other space to do so, you may wish to utilize it instead. WYCH: If you'd like to communicate with Lucky, simply put "SPEAK:" or "TALK:" before what you'd like to say. WYCH: If you'd like to perform an action, simply put "COMMAND:" or ">" before what you'd like to do. WYCH: Just note that talking things over before making a decision may be the best course of action. WYCH: You'll solve problems much more efficiently by working together.

SPEAK: "Lucky, we are opening the shutter too hard and it is closing. Please give us some time to co-ordinate. Also, please inform us of your role in this facility."
Fellow Robots: I think we should access the vending machine power lines and boost the power, enabling us to see more of the hallway outside.
SPEAK: “Hello, I am Chem. The intention is to become certain that the shutter is not the only thing keeping you from a terrible death at the hands and/or jaws of aforementioned creatures before removing them. Also, our coordination is sub-par and we are bad at it.”

SPEAK: "We're still figuring things out. Please hang tight, were going to check the hall for anything." And yeah, I agree with brightening the vending machine, if we can. I'm afraid of waiting too long to leave though - something probably did hear all that noise we made with the door, and it's only a matter of time before they get here.

LUCKY: Alright, uh... LUCKY: Quiz, you know you're just makin' sound effects like... with your voice, right? LUCKY: You don't gotta put on a show for me, y'know. LUCKY: Same goes for Ogre doin' the periodic robo-voice. LUCKY: But whatever floats your boat, I guess. LUCKY: Y'all do y'all.

It tilted the tablet down a little to show a purple badge hanging from a lanyard around its neck, clearly labeled 'CLEANING STAFF', before facing the camera back at its face.
LUCKY: ...just a janitor here. LUCKY: That's also why I don't really know much about what they were workin' on, Acid. LUCKY: This is just about my first day. LUCKY: I did see some kinda animal or creature thing through a door at one point before all this. LUCKY: ...But I'm pretty sure I wasn't s'posed to see that. LUCKY: Lark, it's way, way deep underwater. LUCKY: Out in the ocean. LUCKY: Don't know exactly where, but it took a while to get all the way out here, and I went really far down to get where I was s'posed to be working. LUCKY: So I probably gotta go way back up to get out. LUCKY: But if I'm bein' honest, I barely remember what route I took. And this place is like a labyrinth. And a ton of stuff's locked down or blocked off. And there's monsters or whatever-the-hell. LUCKY: Don't think my chances are too good. LUCKY: But I'm gonna try.

Lucky turns around as the shutter begins to open very slowly.
LUCKY: Oh, y'all checked the hallway? LUCKY: So it's safe to head out, right?
Lucky leans down by the shutter to try and get a good look out, getting ready to exit the room once it opens enough.

Hey Pomo, could you tell us the maximum amount of power the vending machines can handle before the lights burn out? Its functionality otherwise is not a priority. Also, are there any floor plans of the facility you could give us?
>Instead of 400%, set the vending machine power to 10% below whatever value Pomo gives us. >SPEAK: We've made the lights on the vending machine a bit brighter, go ahead and check whether it's safe before moving forward. Let's try to take things slow here, since coordination seems to be a problem with us.
