Let's Play Mewgenics: The Bad Care Run
#14
Given the size of the last update, new plan, we won't show the minor fights or levelups, unless something significant happens in the fights. Updates will be cut down to beginning setup, midboss cat stats and fight, and boss cat stats and fight. In addition we will simply link to the mewgenics.gg wiki for describing items and abilities gained. Having to upload multiple files like this to Imgur.com isn't really going smoothly and seems to miss the occasional file so I will also change image hosts to catbox.moe, thank you Mortis!

After a few more days, one of the strays we brought in contracted The Common Cold from our low health rating. Sadly this one only has a mild negative effect. As the days pass we also have a stray contract Pica and the one with the Cold contracted PTSD, so we have a party ready to go.

Hunter Miss Jeffus
Invert
Heavy Shot
Tainted Mother
Leech Mama

Unlike the previous party, this group is set up to keep away from enemies, they should be more survivable due to that, even if I'm not liking Miss Jeffus having 12HP at the start of a battle. The idea is to exploit Egbert's 3 damage attack and Kuvira's PTSD to boost her attack to obscene levels, while Miss Jeffus provides extra ranged support and poison minions via Invert and Leech Mama. If things go wrong we can also Invert Miss Jeffus to act as a second tank while we keep Kuvira away from combat.

When we reach the miniboss, we swap Egbert's Bear Trap Mask for Peace Symbol Face Paint to make it safer to use his Inferno and Thorns, and equip Freeloader and Miss Jeffus with a Tie Dye Bandana and Focus Band respectively. A Blizzard also starts, so we have to deal with lightning, ice element, and wind knockback from here on.

Facing Maisie and her kittens again, we see that our party is split up while the miniboss has a favourable position, though I don't think this buff will be doing much for her. A kitten taking the initiative is immediately blasted by lightning when it attacks Miss Jeffus.
As we work on taking out the kittens, lightning strikes Miss Jeffus and puts her at risk of being downed, thankfully Freeloader is close enough to use Healing Fall and her basic heal on the Hunter, and then Holy Weapon to knock Maisie into Egbert! After the battle, we also get Teleport for Kuvira, making PTSD much easier to manage, but The Common Cold spreads from Maisie to our melee cats...

While we found a Morphine Drip, Egbert was unlucky and got a cursed item stuck to him, so that's the end of using face equipment like we have been doing with him, and his ability to use Inferno! During a fight with a Purple Mangy and a ton of flies, Miss Jeffus was also downed and suffers a hit to her strength, which does not do much to a ranged build, worse still, the Cold is spreading to our cats, so she hit 8 max HP during the previous fight. 8HP means her already dangerously low HP is now in the range where two enemy attacks could down her, but hopefully Morphine Drip will help. Here's the state of the party before the Boss fight.

Looks like we are fighting a new boss this time: Queen Hippo. Thankfully even with the buff she only gets to take 4 rounds, so we can outlast her even with the shield, and the Cold decreasing the party's stats.
Halfway through the fight, we can see that the Cold is somehow affecting the trashbags, reducing their HP, we retask all but Egbert on to taking down the bags as the wind and lightning seem to be keeping the boss under control.

Between the large amount of sparkles Kuvira is giving off, and Miss Jeffus' combo of Heavy Shot and Mark, the Queen goes down easily, shield not protecting her from the crits. Miss Jeffus levels up afterwards and we choose Rubber Arrows for more chances for Heavy Shot to hit. Since there's no way these cats could handle the Caves, we're going to the new area, the Junkyard. Hopefully we finally clear this Cold there!

On our second battle in the Junkyard, we are finally rid of the Common Cold, though Egbert took a lot of damage due to not being able to heal for fear of starting the infection cycle again. Thankfully he levels up, and we get a full heal and +2 INT for him.

For the miniboss we end up fighting Trampy, and somehow he is electrified, but this won't be an issue with our ranged focus. While he stacks on the buffs, Egbert pushes him into this corner, and Kuvira's sparkles keep him from sleeping. Freeloader deals the finishing blow with a crit-boosted Holy Weapon and levels up, we take +2 INT again. At the shop, we pick up a Rubber mask and Car Battery, as Egbert isn't getting much use out of his mana with Inferno locked out by Sludge mask. Kuvira gets a treat and of course, +2 INT so she can teleport and fire a Magic Missile every turn.

After the miniboss, we start to notice a strange smell, and tracks of injured cats, are less fortunate cats living around the hard path? As we push through we are seeing green slimy cats being attracted to the commotion our fights are generating...

As we get to the end of the Junkyard, we see two dogs without heads blocking the way! Thankfully they are blind, but Chubs and Nubs here have killed more than their fair share of cats on previous runs. The Bouncy elite buff on Chubs is not particularly ideal either.
As they search for escapees, we get Egbert and and Miss Jeffus (when her damage is inverted) to lightly rough up Kuvira, making her damage skyrocket due to PTSD. Combined with Mark she starts to deal significant portions of Chubs' health every turn with her Magic Dart, while keeping mana free to teleport around. Egbert also keeps the dog in one place using Twine Hat, while his Morphine Drip all but nullifies the retaliation damage.
Upon hearing the death rattle of Chubs, Nubs sets a bomb to prevent us escaping, however we have enough damage to pry it off the bomb and stop the countdown. Without Kuvira's boosts, we would have to take cover and wait out the blast instead... and I think we found out where all these green cats are coming from.
