CREATUREFEST JULY 2025
#1
welcome to the Homebrew Deviants CREATUREFEST event! this is a casual event in the vein of virtual pet "group hatches", with a lot more wiggle room and freedom.

the aim of the game is simple- everyone gets together and starts playing with some manner of virtual creature/being, whether that's a traditional vpet toy, a simulation game on your computer, a game with some manner of virtual life element, anything, at the more or less same starting point.

people share what they're up to and how things are going when and how they like, and at the end of the day, it's an excuse to play games together and connect with folks even if we bring different mediums to enjoy weird little creatures to the table.

the optional theme of this CreatureFest is Tide Pool, and can mean anything you want within that.

SUGGESTED GAMES YOU COULD DO BUT ARE NOT REQUIRED OR LIMITED TO IN THE SLIGHTEST
IRL Vpet/Robot Toys such as Tamagotchi, Furby, Digimon, etc
Petsites such as Neopets, Webkinz, etc
Simulation games such as Sims, Petz, Creatures, Digimon World, Wobbledogs, etc
Games with creature elements such as Spore, Squeakross, Digimon Stories, Pokemon, Beastieball, etc
Games with like a specific minigame area that isn't even the main focus but you COULD do it like Chao Garden in Sonic Adventure or any other variety of side mechanics in god knows how many games
Mobile Apps/Idle Games, i'm out of the loop but i know Neko Atsume exists still. it counts.

CHALLENGES YOU COULD CONSIDER DOING BUT YOU ARE ALSO NOT REQUIRED OR LIMITED TO IN THE SLIGHTEST
Raise a digital creature from birth to whatever logical endpoint there is
Make a character of some kind for your creature(s)
Make art of your creatures in whatever form you like
Post updates about your creatures and discuss how things are going
Make up challenges of your own to either further your own experience and/or throw at other participants
Engage with other peoples' creatures/posts
Just vibe with folks at your own pace

the CreatureFest will start on FRIDAY, JULY 4TH and have no set stop date, and late participation/joining is zero issue at all. literally don't worry about it. just hop in and party.

thread below can be used for any commentary, update posts, questions, whatever, and i'll go whip up a discord channel to match.

I'm joining! I'm gonna be playing clangen, I've set up my clan but I plan to actually start tomorrow.

LORE

Shoreclan had been struggling for many moons, their numbers dwindling and their young leaving for other clans. Eelstar had unexpectedly become leader, but he felt unprepared for the weight of a clan considering his age. It hadn't mattered though, the few moons of whining he had spent with Breezethistle listening, as starclans wrath finally accumulated in a flood, leaving only the young medicine cat and a 4 moon old kit.
With no one to bury, the two cats huddle together for comfort, and try to sleep. Starclan sends Elmdrop, the last mediator, to tell Breeze to adopt the kit. To keep their memory and spirit alive, and attempt to rebuild the clan anew. She renames it Coastalclan, hoping a new name brings a fresh start.
Clan Age: 0 moons
Cat number: 2
Food: Good
Medicine: Poor

SET UP/EXPLANATION
So
I killed all the cats. I know there's technically a way to edit the files but I... don't want to. Let the cats mourn. Theres a small chance this will kill fwiw if they decide to mourn and become unable to do anything but uh... wavekit can't hunt yet anyway.
I decided that I wanted to keep the medcat because any time I don't the single cat dies or is sick for most of the year. Yes I've tried similar challenges before, I had to start making threads for myself on discord to track different challenges.

[Image: ra2DQqu.png] [Image: ktRxHS9.png]
This is Coastalclans base (The tidepools) and this is the symbol I chose for the clan. Says Bay but looks tidepooly to me

[Image: 3esHZzX.png][Image: 63cEks6.png]
Heres the other clans! There being 5 might be very bad for me! We're also gonna be set on resting and recovering for a few moons so I don't accidentally start a war.

[Image: gITe4zT.png][Image: BRg0tbt.png]
I didn't mean to pick two tortie girls to start, I thought Breeze was orange and white. Wave I did want a tortie/calico for the future leader... My clan I get to pick my nepo baby. But yeah I wanted to start with two pretty cats.
I should also explain: I have all the breeding settings on, so cats ignore biology for having kittens and they can have an unknown second parent. For The Drama. The cats automatically pick their own leader/deputy (well... after Wave. Shes my nepo baby) and warriors and elders can chose to be mediators.
I Do Plan to have a cat become the mediator once I have like 5, whether they want to or not. I just like having one... for the drama.

[Image: UHZblG6.png][Image: DnrlTqQ.png][Image: Xvo0so7.png]
Now I like sending my technically evil cats (dark forest ties/bloodthirsty). Riverrush is not that. He's being unfairly punished for drama because I wanted a cat there
I could have sent Ravenstar there (Shes my starclan guide) but... I dont know. I felt like her being seemingly evil was a good reason for Starclan to punish the now dead shoreclan. Dark forest doesn't actually do anything so... yeah she gets to stay. Sorry River.

I wanna draw my starting cats at least. Probably just keep it simple.
Meaning just Wave and Breeze.

Moon 1
The first moon is smooth. Calm, it hasn’t been calm in so long. Breezethistle takes time collecting herbs, rebuilding what was lost

Moon 2
Wavekit becomes an apprentice officially, starclan is pleased by this and expresses such to Breezethisle. She knows Wavepaw is destined for something great but fears it will come to her far too quickly. She hopes not having a true mentor won’t hurt her daughter.
Wavepaw is excited to be able to train and hunt, but her first mission out leads only to storm clouds. Her paws carry her home quickly, and she huddles in the medicine cat den with her mother. Neither of them is ready for another flood.

Moon 3
Starclan haunts Wavepaw’s dreams. They’re kind, she knows them, but their faces still feel unfamiliar. Maybe it’s the stars.
Breezethistle is thrilled to see her interact with them, seeing her handle it so well. So many young cats would struggle, but all challenges Wavepaw faces she handles with grace.

Moon 4
Prey starts running low. They knew it would, but it’s hard for two cats in this area, with so many larger clans around. Wavepaw hunts and brings back what she can.

Moon 5
Breezethisle suffers from heat exhaustion. Wavepaw begs one of the other clans to help, and a medicine cat from pondclan visits. Breeze has known her, Fogspot, a small spotted grey she cat with long fur, since they were apprentices. Breeze knew she’d help.
Wave hunts alone, worried for her mother. Breeze spends… quality time with her dear friend.

Moon 6
Breezethisle is fine, Wavepaw is fine. They’re hungry but that feels normal at this point.

Moon 7
Breezethisle sneaks away to meet Fogspot, longing to see her. She is surprised when the cat gives her 4 small kits, explaining through tears that they are hers. Pondclan would be upset with the medicine cat for doing this, having these kits, but Coastalclan needs the numbers. They have to stop, and Breeze must take them.
Despite the hurt, she does take them, wishing Fogspot a safe trip home. She thinks they look too much like their mother, but Wave doesn’t seem to piece things together. She greets the kits warmly, then goes to hunt. Quietly she seethes, these kits will steal her mother’s love. She knows this is good, but the hunger makes her angry.
Breezethisle names two kits after her old friends, a leader taken too quickly and a friend who she has not seen.

Moon 8
Starclan gives Wavetuft her warrior name, and tells her she must spend the first moon as a deputy. They praise her for her bravery, and tell her she’s destined for greatness. Breezethisle feels proud.
The kittens are everywhere, and they’re constantly hungry. Even though they can’t eat freshkill yet, the added stress makes Breeze do something stupid while hunting, and she gets injured at a twoleg nest. Her mother assures her starclan understands she’s doing her best.

Moon 9
With the kits still needing their mother, Wavetuft leaves to meet starclan alone. She’s feeling better, a little upset her sister Eelkit has greencough but starclan wouldn’t possibly let this take the kit so soon. The Moon pond is more inland then she’s used to, in pondclans territory. Fogspot greets her and takes her there, she attempts not to bring up her siblings despite the other cat asking, she should be asking her mother instead.
Wavestar returns home filled with pride. She knows she can lead Coastalclan to greatness.

Moon 10:
Much to Wavestar’s frustration, Breezethistle chases a rogue away and doesn’t even attempt to invite them to the clan. They could use the paws around here! She is going to attempt to find Gull, a clan has to be better.
Eelkit recovers and starts being angry with starclan over it. Breezethisle can only imagine what Eelstar must be thinking hearing her daughter speak ill of him.
Wavestar, despite her suspicions of her mother’s friend, attempts to befriend Pondclan.

Moon 11
Not much changes this moon, no sign of Gull’s tail nor paws. Wavestar is determined.

Moon 12
Riverkit walks too close to the water and ends up poisoned by something. It’s quick, it hurts, and the clan mourns. Breezethisle noticeably sits away from the vigil, watching, a sadness in her eyes Wavestar knows from moons ago. She thinks they’re both back at the flood. They must move on though; her small siblings look at her for guidance as she once did the stars. Surely, they haven’t angered the cats again.
Breezethisle’s wound gets worse, and Wavestar fears what this will do if anyone gets sick.

Clan Age: 1 year

2 of these cats already had water names when I had them, yay! Of course the only one that was ALSO a tortie (this is normally hard to get) is the one that dies. Smh, its also the one named after the cat in cat hell.
Heyyyyy should I send Riverkit to cat hell? is that mean.

Now Wavestar
[Image: 2LYPmID.png]
She's gorgeous. I love her. She also kept talking about starclan talking to her early on, so they like my nepo baby as well.

Behind the scenes peek, I remembered clan missions at like moon 9 and am using that to get extra food.
yayyy.

Fogspots isn't from anything, I just wanted to make up a gray cat from another clan. Im sure she's beautiful.
Wavestar also kinda hates the kits. She's probably about to get over this as they age, wish her luck with three apprentices. If I find Gull they're getting one
OH GULL

Moon 13
Pearlkit, Scalekit, and Eelkit reach apprentice age, and Wavestar feels mildly overwhelmed. But it’s more paws to hunt with, she can’t complain much. Breezethisle is delighted, but worried.
Pearlpaw is hesitant, she approaches Wavestar and asks to be taken training alone. She tells her leader about nightmares she’s been having, and cries into the older cat's fur. Wavestar promises her she’ll talk to starclan, that she’ll fix this.
She hopes that the gull feathers Pearl finds are a good sign.

Moon 14
Wavestar finally catches Gull, and she’s ecstatic. He’s an older cat, more experienced, something she and Breeze lack. She talks excitedly about the clan and invites him enthusiastically to join. With some light prodding he agrees, and she guides him back to the tidepools. Breezethisle hisses at him, the scar on her face finally healed but the itch lingering. He takes the name Gullfeather, Pearlpaw welcomes him eagerly.
While deciding who to re-apprentice to Gull, Starclan sends a message. Eelstar wishes for the kit with his name to apprentice under the new cat and admits that Pearlpaw is destined for… something else.
Wavestar talks to Pearlpaw, and they agree she’d be better as a mediator.

Moon 15
This moon passes with ease. Eelpaw is snappy, she is not a big fan of Wavestar prying into her life. Pearl worries for her.

Moon 16
Gullfeather disappears for a few days and reappears with new borns. He explains that, in his rogue life, he had had a kitty pet mate. She won’t join him and leave her two legs, and she demanded he take the kits. He seems distraught, Wave doesn’t understand how someone could do this. Breezethisle takes this personally, as a slight at her.
Gull names the two kits Coralkit and Driftkit, and he manages to find a significant amount of prey while hunting. Wavestar hopes their food struggles are over.

Moon 17
Scalepaw frets over horrible, horrible, nightmares. He cries to the leader, he loses sleep, he snaps and shouts at other cats. Something bad is happening but no one is quite sure
In Starclan, the kit disappears. No one knows what to tell Breezethistle when she asks about her kit. Riverrush has had his revenge for now, and Riverkit suffers for it. She tries reaching out to her siblings, but they only see monsters in their dreams.

Moon 18
Breezethisle has been sneaking off, much to Wavestar’s annoyance. She holds it together though, and announces, much to everyone’s surprise, that Eelpaw is to be made a full warrior. Gullfeather has been an excellent mentor, and Eelnewt thanks him for his hard work.
Coralkit catches kittencough, or maybe she’s had it. She’s moved to the medicine den, away from her brother for the moon. He’s upset, but tries to be patient, and gives Breeze thistle gorse flowers, hoping they’ll help.
Gullfeather and Wavestar find a kit and take it back to camp. She’s nursed back to health, and they decide to name her Brackishkit. She’s just a moon behind Gull’s kits, so luckily, they can help her adjust to clan life.

Moon 19
Gullfeather is ambushed while out on patrol. He hasn’t lost his touch though and easily escapes the rogues to head back to camp. He realizes, in that moment, that this truly does feel like home.

Moon 20
Breezethisle returns one night, with four small kits. Wavestar hisses at her, demanding her presence in the leader's den once the kits are settled in the nursery. Wavestar’s tail flicks in annoyance as her mother laments her whirlwind romance with a kittypet, whose owners would not let her keep the kits she just knew, so she graciously gave them to Breezethistle to raise. Wavestar’s tail flicks asks for her name, Breeze is uncertain. Wavestar’s tail asks if she remembers what was happening today, she did not.
Wavestar hisses that she’s missed two of her kits get their full names tonight, and Breeze winces at that. She tucks her tail between her legs as she apologizes to her leader, then goes to find Pearldusk and Scaleblossom.
Wavestar accompanies her for the rest of the moon on all outings, unfortunately just leading to increased tension.

Moon 21
This moon is less eventful. They gain an allyship with Pondclan, and Wavestar and  Breezethistle are on better terms. Pearldusk talks to them both a lot.
Brackishkit feels like she only ever hears half of what people are saying to her.

Moon 22
Driftkit and Coralkit are thrilled to be apprenticed this moon, but Brackishkit feels left behind. She’s only a moon younger! She wishes Wavestar would reconsider, but the older she-cat says she won’t have her clan mates growing up too soon. Plus… Breezethistle wants to test her ears.
Driftpaw is slightly afraid of Eelnewt. He thinks she’ll be a good mentor, but they’ve never really gotten along. Coralpaw doesn’t have many thoughts about Scaleblossom, she just hopes he’ll be nice.
Brackishkit is distraught to learn she is, infact, missing things cats are saying to her. Breezethisle says it’s “partial hearing loss” and she doesn’t quite know what that will mean for her. She wants to be a warrior, she’s so close.

Moon 23
Brackishkit is expecting the worst, that Wavestar won’t let her do anything. Won’t let her be a warrior for fear she’ll miss too much, won’t let her listen to cat's woes with Pearldusk, or the worst fate, make her join  Breezethistle in the medicine den. Breezethisle has never liked her, and surely the other kits will tease her endlessly.
Wavestar, however, takes her personally as an apprentice. As the clan cheers for Brackishpaw, she feels like she’s truly where she belongs.

Moon 24
DoeClan has declared war. Wavestar is sure they haven’t done anything to spite the other clans, and hers is so young, they’re not ready for war! Most of the cats are only kittens really.
They’ll have to try befriending the other clan, even with tensions high. Hopefully Pondclan keeps their promise to help the smaller clan.

Clan Age: 2 year
Cat number: 13
Food: Decent
Medicine: Good!

SET UP/EXPLANATION

So many kits oh my god. AND WAR. Doeclan please don't kill everybody, I haven't even gotten to a second page. 90% of the clan is gray, please hope for me I can acquire more color

Lets start with Gull and his kits
[Image: OZIMz2A.png][Image: xfSOlxj.png][Image: PQ7wI6r.png][Image: IqskOTU.png][Image: 7q4eitG.png][Image: FEvwux9.png][Image: GrXI1eV.png]
Unlike Breeze's first kits, they have "Outsider Roots" so they have either a kittypet or rogue parent. He's freshly an ex rogue so like... yeah that's fine.
I keep letting Gull do dangerous shit on his outings and he keeps living, starclan likes this man.... God I hope they don't kill him immediately in the next moon.

No Breeze and her first kits
[Image: NxhpjaE.png][Image: revLjAL.png][Image: 6FibfV7.png][Image: tOfDuMK.png][Image: Xmnv9I9.png][Image: k6HPb6Y.png][Image: ppUaFFE.png][Image: 2ZaaCL0.png]
I like Breeze's scar. Also, why is Riverkit in cat hell? Her siblings legitimately kept having nightmares and telling Wave, I had to interpret that.

Her second litter
[Image: lQEWQ9e.png][Image: da31q74.png][Image: 2Hm0lUi.png][Image: b24gCU7.png][Image: M7kWbJz.png][Image: uhcmGmK.png][Image: UZuYblu.png][Image: iebj7Nd.png]
The are not half clan, so Fogspot cant be their mom. Breeze just likes kits I guess, and gray she-cats. She hates Gull btw, I think because of the scar.

Now Brackishkit
[Image: 9RTAFwU.png][Image: x9DyRo3.png][Image: G3yezqu.png]
I adore her! Someone else not gray yayyy. Brackish for brackish water.

Why did Doeclan start a war? I DONT KNOW. we haven't even seen them in a patrol

So this is part of why I wanted a mediator, I feel like starting a clan with two cats always leads to some tension.

I dont think theres anything else too impotant so... yeah

Hey everyone! It's the local robot enjoyer here.

I was racking my brain trying to come up with a game to play for Creaturefest, since I don't really play any "pet" games. After thinking about it, I realized this was an opportunity to revisit a beloved series of flash games from my childhood, the Bot Arena series. For those who don't know, the Bot Arena series is a trilogy of flash games made by Luke Haillay that involves building, managing, and upgrading a team of roombas with guns highly sophisticated combat robots. The gameplay is very simple, and the reason I chose it as a "pet" game is because you do not actually have direct control of your robots- you just equip them and let them loose in the arena against teams of increasingly well equipped enemy robots.

The game I'll be playing today is Bot Arena 3, as it's the only game in the series that gives you the ability to order your robots around, although this still isn't direct control. Sometimes your robots will misbehave, or do what they feel like despite your orders, but it's enough player input that I feel comfortable doing a challenge run of the game! The rules are simple: I can never have more than one robot in the arena at any one time. Having multiple robots in my workshop is fine (and I will be doing this since I'm playing ahead before I make the posts), but only one can be in the arena at once. The game is very much not designed to be played this way- you're expected to have two robots at minimum. This is going to make some levels extremely difficult or downright impossible, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Let's meet our robot!

"She/Them pronouns please!"

This is Schmoo, short for Schmoovement- which they'll be needing a lot of. Poor Schmoo is going to be constantly outnumbered and outgunned, and we'll have to work together to maneuver around and through the enemy team's defenses. Schmoo isn't always going to look like this, since I'll be upgrading them with better armor and weapons after each match. But they'll always have those flashy red highlights! Schmoo will roam around the arena on their own, but I can direct them to either move to a specific spot or follow a specific target. These two commands are essential to victory here, and will allow Schmoo to take down multiple opponents.

Our first match is at the Roxtan Park Arena, where we're greeted by the defending team, Wrecker and Steelheart.

"Oh, look at those baby guns. This should be a cakewalk."

Well...

While it's true that the weapons Wrecker and Steelheart are using do inflict less damage than Schmoo's, there's still two of them, and damage isn't the only important thing about a weapon. It's time to talk about FIRING DISTANCE.

Wrecker and Steelheart both use the Zintex LP, the cheapest and most basic weapon on the market. There's a lot of information here, but what we're concerned with is the firing distance, which in this case is between 25 to 170 units. I have no idea what these units actually are, since there's no name for them in game, but whatever. This means that if an enemy robot is closer than 25 units or further away than 170 units, the weapon will be unable to target them.

Now, let's take a look at what Schmoo's bringing.

As you can see, the damage on this weapon is far higher. But take a look at the firing distance- the range is actually a bit narrower than the Zintex! This is important because it means that there are certain ranges where Wrecker and Steelheart will be able to hit Schmoo, but Schmoo will not be able to hit them. If Schmoo is closer than 50 units away or further than 150 units away, the Zintex provides an extra 25 unit window that allows Wrecker and Steelheart to deal damage to Schmoo with no possible way for Schmoo to return fire.

Luckily, the enemy robots in this game don't have people like me driving them, so they very rarely know to exploit these gaps in firing range. But situations like these, where one robot is able to damage another robot while being safe from retaliation, are essential to beating these arenas while limited to just one robot. Even with the best armor and weapons, Schmoo will always be at a disadvantage due to being outnumbered (and most enemy teams will have the best armor/weapons equipped anyway), so she needs to create situations where the enemy team deals as little damage as possible to them.

With all that in mind, let's take a look at the match and see what we can learn going forward!

"I still don't get why you're making such a big fuss. That wasn't even that bad."
"Schmoo you have a literal sliver of health left"

As you can see, despite Wrecker and Steelheart's weapons being weaker, they still deal a significant amount of damage to Schmoo. This means that in order to avoid taking damage, Schmoo needs to isolate a single target. I direct Schmoo to go after Wrecker first, as their armor is weaker. While engaging with Wrecker, I make sure to keep Schmoo as far away from Steelheart as possible. Once Wrecker is down, I direct Schmoo to attack Steelheart, making sure to keep their firing distance in mind and avoid getting too close or too far.

One final note: You may notice that I have many of the arenas unlocked, and a bunch of higher-level items in my inventory. This is because I have no idea whether the game is even possible to beat like this, and I'm playing ahead before I go back and record footage. Rest assured that I'm not going into the arena with any armor, weapons, or chassis (more on those later) that I wouldn't have unlocked by that point in the game.
Artificial lifeform/mechanical construct on a mission to obtain every armor type TCP and also maybe make cool stuff along the way

If you call me a bionicle you are correct

here is Initial Tamagotchi Status

i had planned to use my rerelease connection for this, but the current adult resident, Bean, was not at marriageable age beforehand and so there is no baby to raise here yet. Bean is still very cute. we will check back in a bit.

[Image: pippababy.jpg][Image: pippababyflat.jpg]

with that in mind, i stuck a new battery in my V2 Connexion yesterday and looked to see what data was there, and luckily, there was already a baby waiting there!

...a 99 years old baby. i have no idea if the download data somehow glitched out or what happened. i think i might have waited on starting to raise this baby before the batteries ran out and left it on the naming screen for a while or something? but it doesn't generally count that towards the age since it doesn't technically start until you enter the name. i'm assuming something messed up with the data somehow. it shouldn't actually cause any problems, though, other than not being able to reference the age for evolution timing, lol. anyway, this is Pippa.

i put him on pause until today so i could start raising with anyone else who is starting today.

he must have gotten tired of being a 99 year old baby, because he evolved into Kuribotchi within a couple minutes after unpausing. no evolution weirdness, so it looks like the age being set to 99 doesn't have any actual side effects as thought. so far so good!

EDIT:
in addition to the physical models, last night i also stumbled across Tamaweb, which is an online fan tamagotchi game in a similar vein to Eternitchi (checking the credits, it seems some of the sprites were contributed by the Eternitchi developer, actually), so i decided to try it out, too.

the initial egg (named "Mimo" prior to hatching) hatched into a Teletchi. gameplay seems similar to modern tamagotchi releases, with toys available to play with at home, and games in a separate arcade area.

there's also a "petting" option, where you can have the tamagotchi come close to the screen and tap it to pet them, sort of like on the Pix. very good

like Eternitchi, there's a park where your tamagotchi can meet other tamagotchi and add them to their friends list, who will then age at the same rate as them.

[Image: mimobirthday.png][Image: mimoev.png]

rather than evolving automatically, it seems you have to have the tamagotchi have a "birthday" when they are old enough to evolve in order for them to do so, which is cute. (also, you can customize the home in a similar way to modern releases.) the game also appears to have a Missions and Achievements system that gives you some extra points alongside the ones earned from the games for regular tasks done while caring for your tamagotchi, and they can also have specific "wants" that may require you to get certain foods or toys for them in order to fulfill them, which presumably gives more happiness than usual. neat!
i will probably keep an eye on Mimo along with the other two. it seems the Tamaweb characters age significantly faster than their physical counterparts, with Mimo's next evolution time in 9 hours.

I'm playing dwarf fortress.
The world's name is Snospdastrasp - "The Past Planet"
The fortress' name is Lolokokun - "Graniteshrine"
It's the 27th of Sandstone, in Mid-Autumn, of the year 100.
This is my current fortress. I've got some quantum stockpiles set up for refuse and corpses, and a few bedrooms. Recently got some new migrants in. Doing good on food and drinks, and I'm training the start of a spearman militia.
We're situated on the side of a mountain made mainly of chalk and bauxite for easy steel production. No aquifers because I don't like em, although I will need some way to make something like a water statue installation to keep happiness. I'm using DFHack also, because autotailor is based.
I'm planning on making a nice militia of marksdwarves too, tryin to see how the new update is going. I'll leave updates in this thread as they pop up.
back at it again at krispy kreme

Me and my babe are gonna be starting new Tamagotchis. He's never had one before! We got Tamagotchi Connections and I have a TCOM on the way (enables wifi functionalities) so we'll be able to interact with nonlocal Connections.

alright, i allowed myself the whoooole day to get my ducks in a row. let's talk shop.

my main focuses for this fest are virtual pets irl, virtu.pet (neopets clone), and getting back into petz. i have additional goals of wobbledogs breeding nightmares, beastieball raremorph hunting, and potentially a spore stream.

i am joint running some vpets irl with como already, but i hatched a new guy today just to get into the spirit of the Group Hatch. our pre-extant roster is:

on my end

Poppyseed, a cho hakkaimon who i really need to digivolve already please get the anime pig out of here. she/her, running on a Digimon X. she is quiet and studious, and doesn't like fighting much.
Modem, a batabatachi who NEEDS TO EVOLVE ALREADY I DONT KNOW THE EVOLUTION TIMING ON THESE ONES. a bastard who pitches a lot of fits, which is my fault entirely bc i didn't realize the connection remakes have different animations for discipline needed care calls. fuck my gay ass life. he/him.
Confetti, a lovelitchi/maskutchi on my Anniversary M!x. i enjoy her deeply even if i think she hates me for not feeding her lollipops every fucking moment of ever fucking day. they/she, works as a marine biologist (wow how convenient for this challenge!!!) in my mind.

on como's end

an unnamed Greymon on a DM20. we keep using he/him for him and he's swole as hell with a 95% winrate bc como is built different. we're considering swapping the devices once both of our guys pass on so  that we can give the diff gameplay styles a try.  technically, we already Mostly raised a digimon jointly on my DMX, and como does say he misses how active that one is. meanwhile i am sweating bullets at Poppyseed.
Wire, a batabatachi hatched with Modem. i consider them gayboys playing. he/him, also a bastard bc i unfortunately instructed como wrongly on his raising too. connection rerelease.

and then...the new baby. this one will have Lore.

it started out as a teletchi, as you do on the v3, and had an issue-free baby stage + evolved straight into mohitamatchi. this is technically a generation 2 tamagotchi, as this is my old childhood v3 from the 2000s and as it turns out i had a mametchi up in there from 2021 named Bingo holding a baby already. she is now an OC in my slowly developing virtual pet canon and i like her very much. i don't usually make or talk about fanart stuff, but i think i'd like to try. either way, our tamagotchis arent related in lore and are only really considered CHARACTERS once they're fully evolved irl and locked the fuck in.

so, what will be the story here? for the tidepool theming i wanted to focus on my experiences on the Connecticut shore, and go for a different beach theme than you usually see going around. i find the atlantic ocean to be deeply neglected in conversations and beach visuals, and i have never really felt at home around the pacific nearly as much since. as such, Confetti will act as a marine researcher at a similarly themed beach area, and is in the middle of researching a mysterious, deep sea tamagotchi who has been sighted for years but never fully recorded- or established contact with as a sapient individual- this will be Abyssal, our new baby.

i wanted to give Abyssal a fairly generic "deep sea" design for now, that will develop further as it evolves. the end goal of it all is to have a notable, themed individual for our overarching vpet quest- making plushes of every single virtual pet we raise. there are already 3 weirdos inhabiting our home and Confetti is well on their way. plushes are locked in once the vpet is fully raised/dies, and are thus immortalized forever in our home. yes, we are planning to do this with digimon too. i'll die. as such, the resulting OC designs will take their colors/patterns from socks i have in my home to use as main materials, so any sketches you see here will be uncolored for a hot minute. this has been a lot of fun so far!

3D models are also planned once the anthro designs for everything will be finalized. we go all in here. i need more for-fun stuff.

next up: the neopets.

i haven't played virtu.pet in a hot minute, but i'm glad to be getting back to it. i picked out four neopets from my hoard and am going to focus on them for however long i keep up with this. here they are:

felicity, a maraquan aisha inspired by maine lobsters. i really want to focus on atlantic ocean animals/beach theming still, so this was kind of an obvious pick. she/they for pronouns.

tidepool, an island kougra (that pulls from the virtu.pet redesign), based around the kinds of palettes i saw around the connecticut shores. dark rocks with light sand and a different sea color than i see represented often, i'm quite pleased with him.

spot, a spotted tuskaninny who i legit kept mostly the same as the OG design bc i really don't see much reason to change her design at all aside from the hair color. it's just a stellar neopet. not an atlantic sea creature but. im allowed a little cheat. it/its pronouns.

special_chu, otherwise known as chu, a maraquan korbat inspired by cownose rays. i miss ray touch tanks so much, and i think that cownoses are so fucking cute. i have no idea if their flaps will rig. please pray for me.

i'm going to do my due diligence and research animal stuff for these guys, bc i've been enjoying that for morbit species reworks and i think it'd be a great chance to reconnect with those areas of my past. all of their models will be SL avatars soon enough, and i have a little environment made up to take pictures/renders in. we are gonna party.

lastly, we have...my return to petz. i am still trying to heal my relationship with the game, but i have a lot of plans in mind for this fest. for now, i have two petz from my Mercatz file- Mariana the weird sharkwhale and Rotor the weird manateeseal. i should figure out fun species lore for these! it's what i like best. they seem to get along very well, and are good friends already.

the overall gameplan is to overhaul [BAD_DEATH] to be more fun for me to run and maintain, as well as give some files a fresh coat of paint. i want this game to be mine to enjoy again, and done My Way. i will elaborate on this further in time.

as you can see, i haven't really recorded a lot of gameplay here yet, but i'm planning on doing that with my weekend. i just wanted to get these all out the door.

planning on reading and responding to as many entries as i can in a bit! seeing yall be so enthusiastic is the best shit, thank you so much for indulging with me.

LORE

Moon 25
The other clans wish for the war to stop, and Wavestar is trying, but Doeclan continues their pursuit. She bites her tongue, and attempts peace anyway, avoiding reacting to the other leaders' comments and instead compliments their apprentices. The other clans agree, and the leader can only thank her.
Scaleblossom and Coralpaw find an injured cat while on patrol. She claims she'd been caught in a two-leg trap, her leg is in a terrible state. Riverstripe joins the clan, and everyone is happy for a new face.

Moon 26
Fishkit, Currentkit, Divekit, and Crabkit are made appreciates, and Wavestar congratulates her mother on raising 4 more kits. Breezethistle is overjoyed.
Currentpaw, after days of pestering Wavestar (with the assistance on Pearldusk), is to be trained a mediator. Wavestar doesn't think they need a second one currently, but with the war still going and Currentpaws obsession with Pearl, she can hardly argue.
Gullfeather is to mentor Fishpaw, Eelnewt is to mentor Divepaw, and Wavestar takes Crabpaw under her own wing. They all chatter excitedly, it makes Wavestar feel good.

Moon 27
The war ends, almost peacefully, and Doeclan has come out considering them an ally. The two clans hardly ever came to blows, but the other leader can only compliment their strength for such a small clan. Wavestar is beyond relieved to find them having lost no cats.
Eelnewt and Brackishpaw, unfortunately, find a cat bleeding out. They try to stop the bleeding, they try to get him back to camp, but unfortunately, he's too far gone. Breezethistle blames the two legs, bitterly.

Moon 28
Driftpaw gains his full name, that being Driftsquid, and feels ecstatic. His sister congratulates him warmly, and he knows she'll be a warrior soon.
Riverstripe's leg finally heals fully, and she gets to fully meet the rest of the clan without feeling ready to claw their ears off. It's nice, she feels welcome.

Moon 29
Coralpaw and Brackishpaw have been honored for their spirit, and dedication. They stand before the clan, now Coralhiss and Brackishtide, and feel ready to take on the world.

Moon 30
Wavestar is, mildly, annoyed by her siblings. Maybe she'd a bit harsh saying they're following Breezethistle's paws too closely, and Breezethistle has been whining at her for not having a mate. There are not many cats but nooo that's not a good enough reason. She knows she's just annoyed, but she doesn't like her clan mates hiding things from her. What if... what if they leave?
Eelnewt claims she was just sharing prey with a starving cat, she doesn't think should be punished for that. Divepaw seems completely unaware that playing with a kittypet was a bad idea, she just wanted a friend who wasn't her sibling. Wavestar lets them both go with light warnings and instead asks her Breezethistle to talk to her kids about strange cats being potentially dangerous.

Moon 31
Fishpaw watches as his siblings are made warriors, Divebramble and Crabgrass. They're early, he tells himself, it's not his fault. But Gullfeather is distant from the clan and seems constantly disappointed in him. He congratulates his siblings, but he feels so alone.
Wavestar manages to find Ariel, a small Tomcat, just outside two leg territory. He seems so excited to see other cats, and he joins her on the trip back to camp. He thrives on meeting the other cats and is beyond thrilled to meet Scaleblossom at his apprentice ceremony. He wants to be the best warrior ever.
Eelnewt and Brackishtide find a sick cat near thunderpath, Colby Jack. He says his humans couldn't afford the vet, these words mean nothing to the clan mates, they take him home anyway.
Driftsquid, alone, finds a cat screaming and being chased by a dog. He attempts to save the kittypet, but finds out the cat and dog are actually friends. He Does Not understand that, but they could use this he thinks. He invites the cat back to Coastalclan, and they follow. They go from Finch, to Rayshimmer.

Moon 32
Breezethistle brings Dancing, the cat she had previously been seen with, back to camp. Wavestar gives her mother a look but invites the cat to stay. She takes the name Sharkdance. Colby Jack is feeling better, he keeps his name but adds Splash to the end. Wave accepts this.
Fishpaw is also invited into this warrior's ceremony, he is named Fishwhisker. Wave laments to Breeze later that she doesn't think he's ready, and Breezethistle seems to agree.
Sharkdance and Coralhiss find another kittypet, a small tom, and the two manage to convince him to join. For his size, he's strong. Wavestar seems in high spirits lately.

Moon 33
Currentpaw, finally, feels ready to take a full name. Pearldusk couldn't be prouder, telling Currentspeckle the clan should be thankful her for gracing them with her presence. Wavestar is almost afraid of the duo.

Moon 34
Sharkdance attempts, attempts, to catch Pearldusk's eye. But Pearl seems unaware of the other cats flirting, and Shark takes it as rejection. She hides from other cats eyes and does dangerous things on patrols. Like getting chased by a dog with Rayshimmer, who only eggs her on.
Perhaps it's related, perhaps it's just them being unlucky, and Scaleblossom returns back to camp alone, yowling about a dog catching Driftsquid. They don't find him or the dog, but Breezethistle sees him in her dreams.

Moon 35
Gullfeather is beside himself with grief for his kit and lashes out at Breezethistle and Wavestar for dragging him into this dumb clan. They try not to take it personally. Wavestar thinks about his age, and frets, will he take it personally when she must replace him.
Yellowcough and Whitecough are fresh in the camp, Breezethistle mumbles she'll need an apprentice soon. Currentspeckle and Rayshimmer become mates, and rub it in all the other cats faces.

Moon 36
It takes a bit for it to click, two moons to be exact, but Pearldusk finds Sharkdance in order to ask her, directly, to be her mate. They're way too close, it's almost sickening, but Wavestar is just happy to see the clan officially Has Mates. They feel even more official now!
There's rogues galore this moon. Breezethistle and Wavestar, while on an outing, attempt to befriend a cat named Coal, but a clanmate scares them off. Pearldusk ends up fighting a loner named Meadow, and Riverstripe chases a kittypet off who tried to steal their prey. Wavestar, while normally being all for inviting loners in, worries them may have to start chasing them off.

SET UP/EXPLANATION

I'm going to start just posting the Cat pics at the end of moon. If someone feels particularly important Ill show them.

[Image: 1bgwdAy.png][Image: suT1fRn.png][Image: a0Mmjlx.png]

My clan is almost a full page!! I do gotta get another medcat, Breeze is technically almost at her limit. Oops.
I need more bloodlines in the clan, but I think Ill stop looking for the loners soon. Most of the clan is still Breeze's kits.
Also Divebramble is gorgeous and it's not fair, I thought she looked kinda plain as a kit (Not an impressive Tortie) But the small shock of brown looks so much better as an adult.
And I left cheese cats name because its a funny contrast.

[Image: z9WLD8F.png][Image: 7BvDWVH.png][Image: 2RpYyhT.png]
I just wanted to share some patrol art. I like the octopus, I like how haunting the dogs look.
Also, I do wanna say, I write the lore and do not reread so if it makes no sense sorry Im just hype for my cats.

When we get to page 2 Im turning on mass extinctions

I kept an eye on them during the 4th July party I attended. I also figured out the built in screenshot function.
Pet Melodious.
Melodious has a cute friend they are interested in strengthening their relationship in! They go to the park to frolic in the night.
[Image: 8Ajla2X.png] [Image: xJxFmDl.png] [Image: 4678mVy.png]
They are potty trained!
Melodious spends time with Zaneta the cat before bed.
They crave for their friend! Invite them over for a quick chat, ignoring their awkwardly shaped life stage.
[Image: ceUVgEc.png] [Image: akYe7q0.png]
Actually fuck it we ball. Invite the whole squad for a birthday party!
[Image: lpTw39D.png] [Image: 8RLa2mf.png] [Image: hmRVxWz.png]
They are now... blue. With arms. And an angler antenna? Cool. Fits the theme.
They're a teen now, with access to Social Media. They check their friends' posts, and make one themself. They post that they're feeling a bit sick today.
Clean bill of health, though. This is the face of a liar.
Pet Melodious anyways because it is possible. I was not able to capture the active petting expression.
Melodious has access to the grimoire!
The skateboard is cool. Comes with a skate park!
Use the smartphone because now we can. Wow!
[Image: MRtJD7P.png] [Image: QAvALz8.png]
Read a magazine to round it all out. This is the expression they make when petting also.
Upset about not using the toilet.
[Image: 0Y6yxby.png] [Image: 0XYn9hi.png]
Ok. NOW to prepare for bed.
Kiss the cat while watering the plants.
And tuck in time!

Welcome back to the robot combat zone! Today we'll be fighting Crash and Burn of Tory's Junkyard, but first we've got to cover some new additions to the shop. After every match, the shop will update with new chassis (more on those later), armor, and weapons for your robots to use. It's generally a good idea to keep your robot up to date with the latest parts, especially if you've only got one of them.

The only new item in the shop we need to worry about is the Overwatch R200 (no relation, this game released well before the other one you're thinking of).

"Ooh, this one has lights on both sides. Truly an innovation in engineering and design."

Armor in this game isn't that exciting, so we won't be covering it too often. All it does is determine how much shielding a robot has, which determines how much damage it takes from attacks. The better armor you have, the longer the bot lasts. There's no other effect you get from armor- all robots are the same size and move at the same speed. The only other thing you have to be concerned about is your chassis' weight limit, which we'll be covering in the next installment.

Here's what Schmoo looks like with the new armor installed.

"I don't like it. I look like an American football player."

Now let's talk about the robots she'll be facing- Crash and Burn. Crash isn't anything too special, they have the exact same weapon as Schmoo, but with weaker armor. Burn has the same armor as Crash, but their weapon is a bit more interesting- they're using the SPKL-D4, which has technically been available to us the whole time, but I haven't bothered using it. We'll see why in a moment.
"You know what, actually, I'd rather look like a football player than have a trash can for a face."
While this weapon looks intimidating at first, having a higher fire rate and damage per minute than the Raptor DT-01 that Schmoo has, the real story lies in the firing distance. Unlike the DT-01, this weapon has no minimum range and a maximum range of 120 units, making it ideal for close-range combat. However, you'll recall that the DT-01 has a maximum range of 150 units, giving Schmoo a generous 30-unit window where she can deal damage to Burn while remaining completely safe. Another crucial detail that isn't mentioned in the stat screen is the weapon's accuracy. All weapons in this game have a slight firing arc, meaning the bullet will deviate slightly left or right from its intended path. Most of the time this isn't very noticeable, but with this weapon in particular, the firing arc is extremely wide, making it miss around half of its shots. This means that the damage per minute calculation in the stats screen is a bit misleading- it assumes that every shot will connect, which doesn't always happen.

With all that in mind, the main strategy here is to just stay out of Burn's reach. Crash is easy enough to handle since Schmoo has more health. As long as Schmoo doesn't take too much damage from Burn, this match should be fairly straightforward.

"...That was even easier than the first one. Are they all going to be like this?"
"...No. Definitely not."
Artificial lifeform/mechanical construct on a mission to obtain every armor type TCP and also maybe make cool stuff along the way
