You are Absol
ABSOL: Seviper, please take this seriously.
SEVIPER: oh I'm taking it exactly as seriously as it should be,
SEVIPER: "young" Absol.
You are an Absol. You and your mom help protect the Pokémon of this mountain from Disaster, by divining the future with your horns. Something usually referred to as 'Disaster Sense'. But for you, well...
SEVIPER: I'm what?
SEVIPER: Supposed to keep a Babysitter around for the next quarter-month-
ABSOL: Actually I said about a quarter-month.
ABSOL: It might be a few more days.
SEVIPER: -for half a month???
ABSOL: I already told you I don't know specifics.
Your horn came out... Wrong. You can't predict big natural disasters like your mom. Instead, you predict personal disasters. But it's fuzzy. There's no details, just a vague sense of intensity, and a rough timeline. If it wasn't for the fact that your sense can cover half the mountain at any given time it'd be useless. As it stands though:
SEVIPER: I'm not convinced you can use your fucked up horn.
SEVIPER: Last month, you gave the puffy Dedene one of your 'warnings'
SEVIPER: and nothing happened!
ABSOL: Its partner broke up with it!
ABSOL: It was devastated.
Seviper sneered
SEVIPER: A likely story.
SEVIPER: You were just covering your ass.
SEVIPER: Playing your stupid Xatu routine.
SEVIPER: if something 'bad' happens, you're right.
SEVIPER: if nothing 'bad' happens, you're also right because
SEVIPER: 'That fate has been averted'.
ABSOL: are you
ABSOL: are you quoting my mom at me???
Half the Pokémon don't believe your Doom Sense, what you've come to name your bastardized power, actually works. There are enough Pokémon who've had close calls after your predictions that its not everyone, but even then... Comparisons to your mom are ever-present and unflattering.
SEVIPER: At least she actually saves Pokémon.
SEVIPER: That landslide last spring, the Wildfire a few months ago?
SEVIPER: It warned us well in Advance, told us what was going to happen, and lead us through it with no loss of life.
SEVIPER: while your supposed 'power' failed to see that poaching coming-
ABSOL: those humans were outside my range!
SEVIPER: -Battle Nut Nidoking breaking it's horn in that big Battle-
ABSOL: It treats that broken horn like a badge of honor! It's not a disaster if someone likes getting battle scars!
SEVIPER: -And let's not forget little baby Starly.
You Freeze. Memories start washing over you, but you sit down on your haunches and do the breathing exercises Zen Master Chimecho taught you.
ABSOL: low blow,
You growl
ABSOL: I can't save everyone.
ABSOL: Even my mom can't.
ABSOL: It taught me that.
ABSOL: Last year's blizzard took those Caterpie twins, despite her warnings.
SEVIPER: At least they knew what was coming.
ABSOL: You know what? ABSOL: you're right!
ABSOL: I gave you your warning.
ABSOL: You know the timeline
ABSOL: You know my recommendations.
ABSOL: staying in, canceling big outings, no battling, the buddy system-
ABSOL: so why should I care if you die?
ABSOL: Asshole.
You saunter away from the Seviper's den in the roots of a juniper bush and make your way back home. Unfortunately, you do care. You care every time someone gets hurt because you couldn't stop it. You care every time you wake up in a cold sweat because you feel a new ping from your Doom Sense.
ABSOL: Mom! I'm home!
Your mother stops patching your grass bedding to come over and give you a hug. Which is a rather awkward human-ism she picked up from her time as a human's companion. Then she grooms a bit of fluff out of your eyes, using a single claw to comb it back into your head fur once she licked it wet.
ABSOL: Mooooom, I'm not a kid anymore, I can groom myself.
MOTHER ABSOL: sorry sweetie
MOTHER ABSOL: I just see some fur out of place and I move without thinking.
ABSOL: where's Dad?
MOTHER ABSOL: out foraging
MOTHER ABSOL: -or playing with those human cards with its buddies.
MOTHER ABSOL: Either way it will be home with dinner, or so help me Xerneas...
You roll your eyes. Domestic bliss, or something. It was life, anyway.
MOTHER ABSOL: oh how did it go with your newest prediction?
ABSOL: I don't want to talk about it.
MOTHER ABSOL: Ah.
MOTHER ABSOL: Another skeptic, then?
You sigh,
ABSOL: Yeaaahhhhhh.
ABSOL: I'm going to take a nap, If that's alright.
MOTHER ABSOL: sure!
MOTHER ABSOL: I finished your bed first just in case.
ABSOL: thanks, mom.
You settle down and try to relax, putting images of foul fates befalling that Seviper out of your head. Soon enough you're claimed by sleep. Soon enough your dad will be home.
That said Who is your dad? Pure Absol pairings are rare, as your kind tend to spread out and have their own territories to watch over. It's whatever. Cool that you got to learn a move from it though.
[Note: Since there's variance between generations as to what egg moves an Absol can get, select the Pokémon and the desired egg move. also feel free to suggest character traits for the dad. Absol did ask you who it was, after all.]
