[SCRAP_GAZER]: many people, when they think of scraps, think only of trauma and hardship- this is the most commonly portrayed reason for shedding scraps in media, and many people who do believe in them are unaware of the fact that they can come from positive and neutral events as well.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: trauma based scraps are equally powerful, but can often come with backfiring and side effects if used incorrectly.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: this leads to a lot of wizards blowing themselves up, sometimes more literally than others.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: in general, you want to /avoid/ using things from events like murder, torture, etc- the more violent, the more dangerous it is.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: while these can be some of the most powerful scraps to wield due to their emotional energy being off the charts, they often leave serious mental repercussions on their users, with severe nightmares being a best case scenario and further traumatization happening as a worst case.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: that's more what you see displayed in movies, anyhow- without the repercussion part.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: most likely they've left scraps behind themselves, seeing as these generally don't fade easily without being left alone for a long time.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: scraps will also cluster together when near similar ones, and form larger, "compound" scraps- these are more powerful, but require more knowledge of what you're doing to successfully manipulate.
