Some of us don't question what's in the dark places. In abandoned buildings and skinny alleyways. There's not much reason for the normal sort to question like that. What point would there be? What would you do with that information? Fixture, a good friend of yours, they know what hides in those alleys and the dark places no one thinks to look, creatures which prey off the missing or the quiet.
