also before i get started, additional reading that may contextualize these characters more is the ARG profiles (that's a google doc link) which give a lot more insight into their personality and backstory. they're "technically" spoiler-free as all of this is content released before they were added to the actual game, and most of this stuff you cannot find out in game anyways. i will try to keep this as Spoiler Free as possible
