(It's a picture of a pretty unremarkable dishcloth. It's kind of faded. At the edge of the frame, there's an edge of an extremely sharp bread knife.)

[SCRAP_GAZER]: hmm, one moment
[SCRAP_GAZER]: interesting. i'm picking up on some traces of meat scraps, but nothing super prominent. from what i can tell, they're small and recently shed and most likely, as a result, contain scraps you gave off yourself.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: do you have any personal affiliations/associations with or personal symbology relating to meat?

[SCRAP_GAZER]: understood.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: that's most likely why you've got meat scraps, then- it may seem silly to some people for their scrap affiliation to be related to their hobbies, but those kind of things can really impact someone's sense of identity.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: seeing as your online identity revolves around it, i'd say it's a fair bet they're yours.

[SCRAP_GAZER]: i can go into it, if you like. i've done tutorials before, so it's not outside of what i do for free.

[SCRAP_GAZER]: i've seen that one, actually.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: it's a bit exaggerated, but they surprisingly did some research, and the effects are pretty good.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: the most accurate part is how he gets the scraps from bodies- that's a definite way to get them, though ill advised in, well, murder cases.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: i've worked with them once before and i can assure you that they are immensely cursed.

[H4X310110]: And that SCENE where it's REVEALED that he got his POWERS from the GHOST possessing him through the TEAR in his FLUID CORE...
[H4X310110]: Then EVERYTHING from that point on made SENSE...such a good PLOT TWIST.
[H4X310110]: I don't know if that PART is REALISTIC or not though.
[H4X310110]: I didn't know it was EXAGGERATED...that's kind of LOWER END in terms of HORROR MOVIE magic.

[SCRAP_GAZER]: okay, so...every living being on our planet produces and then sheds these things called scraps.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: scraps form as a result of buildup of memories and emotions that mean a lot to the being in question- this kind of buildup is called "budding", and happens naturally within the body.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: let's say you have a friend that you're growing closer to- memories and feelings associated with that friendship will cluster together, forming a scrap bud inside you.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: scraps will shed off of the body when there's a gradual culmination or sudden event relating to those memories and feelings- events like having a very personal, intimate moment with that friend, or in the other direction, a sudden fight, could cause a scrap to shed.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: oftentimes this doesn't make the bud disappear, and the memories and emotions don't go away by any means (aside from a very specific and very rare condition referred to as Internal Scrap Decay) even if it does- and a fully developed bud is more likely to drop more scraps over time.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: so...a friendship with more intense emotions is more likely to develop and shed scraps than one that just started.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: are you following so far?

[SCRAP_GAZER]: okay, so...scraps themselves are completely undetectable to most living things.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: only 20% of the population has any actual ability to sense scraps, with 10% being able to just sense (think about people getting "weird feelings" around places like hospitals or graveyards), 5% being able to see them, 3% being able to physically interact with them (touching, carrying, etc), and 2% being able to "manipulate" them- more on that later.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: if you can see them either naturally or via the use of witching equipment, they tend to resemble small orbs composed of their "type". this is kind of like TCP typings in that they're almost always nouns, but different in that abstract concepts are a lot rarer. a /lot/.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: the type of scrap is typically defined by the person who shed it- people have natural affinities based on something called "internal motifs".
[SCRAP_GAZER]: internal motifs are, as you can imagine based on my earlier description of types, typically tangible nouns. they're also /immensely/ personal to the being in question- this is why i suspect meat is in fact your motif/scrap affinity, and thus, the kind of scrap you shed.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: your motifs can be really weird in how they relate to you as a person, and a lot of people have more metaphorical ones than ones literally associated with their lives...think a cloud motif for someone who's prone to let their mind wander, or a water motif for someone who easily gets swept away.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: these motifs can change over time as you change as a person, and often do. it's not uncommon for someone to shed many different kinds of scraps in their life, just because of motif shifting.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: are you following, or do you have any questions so far?

[H4X310110]: Yes... I am following...
[H4X310110]: How common are FOOD-BASED scrap affinities?I like MEAT a lot because I EAT a lot of MEAT.
maybe my LIFE is too BORING to have other ASPECTS of SIGNIFICANCE........
[H4X310110]: But MANY people have FAVORITE FOODS...Almost everyone I KNOW does.

[SCRAP_GAZER]: i highly doubt it's just that.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: favorite foods can tie into things, and food motifs aren't uncommon- but for something to actually become a solidified motif, there needs to be a deep personal significance.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: i don't know you, so i can't do a full assessment, but i think a big part of this is that you've made meat and things associated a very distinct and important part of your identity.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: meat scraps get a bad reputation due to their distressing appearances and associations with "evil" or more unsavory organizations that prefer using them, but they're not inherently skewed in any direction. the most wonderful, kind person in existence could just as easily have a meat scrap affinity/internal motif as anyone else.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: more symbolic interpretations of them...i've seen cases of people having a lot of thoughts and feelings related to bodily autonomy and the physical form, or feelings related to consumption in either the literal or metaphorical sense.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: food is in and of itself a very emotional part of our global culture, and even moreso for TCPs, who do not /require/ it to survive.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: many TCPs don't feel hunger until they have decided to eat recreationally, and it becomes more about the /feeling/ of eating, the /taste/ of food, than needing to eat something for sustenance.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: it is in some ways an act of celebration, even if mundane- or comfort, for many.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: even something like meat, something so broad and simple and accepted, can be that.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: so literal associations with it and other foods...it can happen.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: especially with TCPs.

[SCRAP_GAZER]: okay, so...people who can "manipulate" scraps naturally are typically called "wizards", providing they actually practice.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: "scrapwranglers" was also an old term used, but it's a bit too unrefined for my tastes.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: if you want something simpler and less fancy though, just "scrap users" will do.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: scrap users are able to pull from the three components of a scrap- memories and emotions, as mentioned earlier, as well as the energy behind these things.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: the stronger the feelings and the more distinct the memories are within a scrap, the more energy's put into it when it sheds.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: a scrap user is able to manipulate the scrap's components to do magic- and this really is only limited by the scraps at hand and what you can come up with using what's available.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: the type also ties into things as well. let me think of an example...
[SCRAP_GAZER]: so, raw manipulation, no equipment involved- let's take a meat scrap that formed as a result of a close friendship, like mentioned earlier.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: for the sake of a first example, we'll say that this particular scrap shed off after an event involving a very personal, intimate conversation. perhaps a secret shared that's never been told to anyone else before.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: the scrap would likely contain feelings of loyalty and trust- feelings of a need for protection towards the secret, and reassurance that it'd get that care.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: a scrap user who knew what they were doing would likely be able to manipulate that scrap into a solid, visible meat shield.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: its components involved love and care, so the user can use those feelings and memories to create something that will protect them from harm.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: but, there may also be traces of fear in that scrap- worries that the secret will not be kept, and nerves about it.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: so perhaps the shield also has bone spikes on it, to symbolize that double sided aspect to it.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: in a sense, the spikes don't invalidate the feelings of love, either- they are just as protective as the rest of it.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: meat scraps in general are extremely useful for combat, as their shapes are often quite literally malleable in the hands of a scrap user, and make for easily conjured, solid, magical objects.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: but, they are also seen in healing circles as well- they do have to do with the body, after all.

[H4X310110]: Very Very COOL.
[H4X310110]: I wonder why the MONSTERS in MOVIES do not try to promote FRIENDSHIP among THEMSELVES and OTHERS...
[H4X310110]: But like...SCARY friendships...
[H4X310110]: A MONSTER WIZARD with a lot of SCARY FRIENDSHIPS would be unstoppable.
[H4X310110]: I wonder what the INSIDE of my HOUSE would look like to SOMEONE who can SEE SCRAPS...
[H4X310110]: There have been OTHER PEOPLE with MEMORIES in here before... but they are LONG GONE...they will NEVER come back again...
[H4X310110]: I am not made of MONEY though...And I would rather keep my HOBBIES secretive...

[SCRAP_GAZER]: many people, when they think of scraps, think only of trauma and hardship- this is the most commonly portrayed reason for shedding scraps in media, and many people who do believe in them are unaware of the fact that they can come from positive and neutral events as well.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: trauma based scraps are equally powerful, but can often come with backfiring and side effects if used incorrectly.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: this leads to a lot of wizards blowing themselves up, sometimes more literally than others.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: in general, you want to /avoid/ using things from events like murder, torture, etc- the more violent, the more dangerous it is.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: while these can be some of the most powerful scraps to wield due to their emotional energy being off the charts, they often leave serious mental repercussions on their users, with severe nightmares being a best case scenario and further traumatization happening as a worst case.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: that's more what you see displayed in movies, anyhow- without the repercussion part.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: most likely they've left scraps behind themselves, seeing as these generally don't fade easily without being left alone for a long time.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: scraps will also cluster together when near similar ones, and form larger, "compound" scraps- these are more powerful, but require more knowledge of what you're doing to successfully manipulate.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: this is also how scrap ghosts form, though you need a /lot/ of scraps to actually make a conscious being, even one that only repeats actions from its memories and with no sapience whatsoever.

[H4X310110]: I suppose that part about FRIENDSHIP makes sense...especially since MOVIE MONSTER WIZARDS generally don't understand FRIENDSHIP anyway.
[H4X310110]: And I suppose it would be ANTI-CLIMACTIC if a MOVIE MONSTER WIZARD ended up DYING in the first half because the SCRAPS they used were TOO POWERFUL.
[H4X310110]: But if a bunch of EVIL MONSTER WIZARDS grouped together and used their FRIENDSHIP to KILL...it's such a SMART idea I think...
[H4X310110]: it REMINDS me that I have been amassing ACCOMPLICES lately...

[SCRAP_GAZER]: i've long since learned that people who are concerned with doing evil things are more inclined to listen to people telling them they're going to seriously hurt themselves than to be told what they're doing is morally incorrect.

[SCRAP_GAZER]: well, everyone does.
[SCRAP_GAZER]: and technically i could derive identities long distance, but only if i was able to get very clear pictures and the scraps themselves were very strong.
