[SLUMBER]: Hohkay...
[SLUMBER]: We should probably talk about the whole...raster modding thing.
[SLUMBER]: I'm not opposed to unbanning you in the future but you better have a damn good explanation for all this.

[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: oh. yes, my apologies... i was not aware this would cause such unrest.
[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: it was only for scientific purpose, if you will believe me.

[SLUMBER]: Uh huh.
[SLUMBER]: There's a lot of things done for "scientific" purposes that I'm not huge on, frankly.
[SLUMBER]: Just because you /can/ do something doesn't mean you /should/.

[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: perhaps not. though, i had been under the impression it may be more acceptable than it was.
[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: you see, considering there seemed to be a push for datamined information on the simulation already.
[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: and it had simply seemed like something in line with my work...
[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: i was not aware of the actual reality of the situation at that time. it's not like purely virtual pets were an... unheard of concept.
[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: i did revert them to the way they were before...

[SLUMBER]: ...yeah, I gotta talk to 3D about the datamining thread.
[SLUMBER]: It was made before the game's release, and I let it slide because they're a member of the dev team, sort of.
[SLUMBER]: But I /will/ be investigating that as well.
[SLUMBER]: While I get the virtual pet thing, it's...pretty explicitly said on the website that these are people.
[SLUMBER]: Did you see this program secondhand, or something?

[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: oh, it does say that... huh.

[SLUMBER]: ...I'm going to take that as a yes.
[SLUMBER]: Did the person who showed you the game tell you, at least?

[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: um.
[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: she did, yes... but.
[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: pardon me, i really have no way of phrasing this that will not sound bad.
[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: i was not aware she was being honest about it.

[SLUMBER]: Mmmmmmm.
[SLUMBER]: Well, it sounds like there's a lesson learned here, at least.

[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: of course i have learnt a 'lesson'.
[POEME_ELECTRONIQUE]: i had been trying to communicate that...

[SLUMBER]: Well...if the raster's reverted and you say you're not going to do it again, I can talk to the devs and see how they feel about lifting your ban in a month.
[SLUMBER]: No promises, though. This is a huge violation of construct rights and you're lucky they're not pressing charges.
[SLUMBER]: To me though, it sounds like you should try and make things right with that friend of yours.
[SLUMBER]: It's not easy to fix trust after something like that, but it's worth it.
[SLUMBER]: ...probably an overstep to say as much, though.
[SLUMBER]: If you have any questions about the ban, let me know. I'll keep this DM open.
