Heyo,
Just putting this in Oubliette and Helpline bc there's a lot of new folks from the forums here that aren't in the Discord: Updates have been really slow lately because my arms are injured (currently on lots of pain and nerve meds) and it hurts to type a lot. I am going to keep up with both of these projects as much as I can, they are Still open for suggestions and such, just be wary that things will likely be slow. Thank you. |

mod notes: this is 1011686 AKA Lark speaking. I don't think that's the case, Wych. I'm not sure you were able to perceive it, but Jury was the first one to talk to us, and they told us our assistance was required. I think they must care at least somewhat about what happens to us and Lucky, even if they're constrained by rules. But I can put that to the side for the moment. >Say: "Lucky, what other kinds of machines have you seen in this place that we might be able to control?" |

> Say: It appears that those rooms are labs of some kind. s: Whatever it was they were testing, there are these red lights on the equipment in there. s: We thought they were blinking for a second but its actually something movin'. s: I hope its a curtain and not a person or like a creature. s: it might be smart to pick up a weapon, take any sports in school, Lucky Ducky? s: Like Morbit Lacrosse or Morbit Hockey? s: Those skills would be hella useful. s: Anything can be a weapon so long as its long and heavy. Pogo, do the cameras have any alternative viewing ability? Night vision maybe? Infrared? I mean, how advanced are these cameras we switching around? Do we even need to turn the lights on? And definitely help us with the map, if you could configure an application on Luck's tableterino, that would be golden Pimo. |

Yes we would like help with that, thank you Pogo say: "Lucky we saw a uh a thing in a room that we did the hypothetical camera switch to." Jury: How do we figure out what cameras link to what rooms? |

HELM: That would be great, Pomo. VIGS: Yes, that would be satisfactory, Pomp. POMO: That's not my name, but I'm happy to help! POMO: I've created a camera log that I'll display for you periodically, and update every time changes happen with cameras!
CAMERA LOG:
POMO: It should be self-explanatory, but I'm here to assist if you have any questions. POMO: I hope this is helpful! HELM: There's three doors on your left, one door on your right, and a right turn at the far end of the hallway. HELM: I think you should head into the closest door. LARK: Lucky, a suggestion: LARK: You should check rooms you pass by to see if there's anything useful in them. LARK: You shouldn't spend too long searching, but as time does not currently seem to be of vital importance, there's no reason not to at least have a look. VIGS: There's three doors on our left of the hallway, one on our right. VIGS: And keep an eye out for any light switches, this hallway is dark. LUCKY: Yup, that's what I was thinkin'. Can do. OGRE: Please hold on for Approximately 1 Minute. OGRE: I am going to attempt to access a hypothetical Camera very briefly. OGRE: This may result in nothing, of course, but we will inform you if we discover something important. LUCKY: Alright, then. LUCKY: Holdin'... Translating commands . . . "Disconnect from CAM-2RTL3" Disconnecting from current camera. "IF CAM-2RTL1 is Accessible THEN Connect to CAM-2RTL1" Accessing camera: CAM-2RTL1
CAMERA LOG:
Your view changes over to another dark room, though this one is slightly more visible thanks to a few small red lights on various equipment in the room. The room is easily distinguishable as a large lab; somewhat similar to one you might see in a high school, though clearly professional-grade. There's a long black counter-top against one wall that contains two sinks, a few tables in the middle of the room with objects atop them that are hard to make out, a fume hood in one corner, and several black cabinets along the walls - presumably for storing lab instruments, chemicals, or other things related to the lab - which all have the small red lights on the front of them. "IF Connected to CAM-2RTL1, THEN Wait 5 Seconds, Disconnect from CAM-2RTL1" Timer set. Running timer . . . During your brief view of the lab, you take in as what you can: One of the black lockers is open, though you can't make out anything inside it. It seems at first as if some of the red lights are turning off and back on again in some kind of odd sequence. However, you soon realize that something is moving inside the room, blocking out the lights when it moves in front of them. You struggle to make it out, but can only perceive the haziest outline from time-to-time. You follow it as best you can, but you keep losing it. It seems to move from away from the open locker, then near one of the tables, then ...upwards. You think. You hadn't noticed before, but there is some square shape hanging down from the ceiling. The shadow seemed to move up towards it-- Timer complete. Disconnecting from camera: CAM-2RTL1 "Connect to CAM-2RTL3" Your view is cut off, then returned to the previous hallway. You can see Lucky again.
CAMERA LOG:
VIGS: Hey, Lucky. VIGS: What's your social security number? VIGS: We should get snacks while we're near the vending machine and it says there's no account so I'm going to open a credit card in your name. VIGS: That cool with you? LUCKY: ... LUCKY: ...My what? LUCKY: ...I'm not hungry, I don't need-- LUCKY: How 'bout we focus on me not getting killed, please? LUCKY: I'd appreciate it. Translating commands . . . "Turn on the lights" Powering lights in current location . . . Unable to provide power. Power systems may be damaged. Please inform maintenance immediately. BARB: Hey Lucky, what's a thesis lab? LUCKY: Not a clue. LUCKY: I know there's labs in here, so... probably one of those. LUCKY: Not much sense asking me that kinda stuff. VIGS: Polo, can we access any of those doors? POMO: That isn't my name, but I'll be happy to answer your question! POMO: The doors in this hallway are not shutters, so you won't be able to open or close them. POMO: Some doors in this hallway do have electronic locks that require badge access, but you don't have access to those. POMO: I hope that was helpful! LUCKY: Alright, that's been minute. Probably more. LUCKY: Guessing nothin' happened, Ogre? HELM: If you can open an app that has a lot of bright colors in it and point the screen outward, that might help a bit. LUCKY: Uhh... It's hard to make out, but you can faintly see Lucky fiddling with the tablet. LUCKY: ...Look, I can barely work this thing. LUCKY: Oh, uh... Pomo, can you make the... screen brighter? Or somethin'? POMO: The device is currently on its maximum brightness setting, LUCKY. POMO: However, I can make the screen white to maximize its use as a source of light for you! POMO: Would you like me to do that? LUCKY: Yeah, yeah that works. Lucky is illuminated just a little more as the screen changes. LUCKY: Well, guess that's all I got for now. LUCKY: Helps a little bit, but there's gotta be some kinda light around here. LUCKY: I'll see if I can't find one while I'm lookin'. HELM: I'm going to try and work on a map of where we've been. HELM: To see whether I have the access necessary to show it to you, I'm going to send you a sample image. HELM: Tell me if you see a smiley face on your tablet. LUCKY: ...Oh, yeah? LUCKY: Well, alright, then. Translating commands . . . "ACCESS: Nearest device with tag tablet" "DISPLAY: Embedded image" Access request required. Sending request . . . JURY: SCANNING IMAGE . . . JURY: SCAN COMPLETE. NO VIOLATIONS DETECTED. JURY: SENDING . . . You watch Lucky's head turn downward, presumably looking at the tablet. LUCKY: Yup, think that's it. LUCKY: Wanna try the map now? LUCKY: I'll start lookin' while you send it. Lucky steps into the hallway with the tablet held up in front of it, Using the tablet as a light source, it cautiously follows along the wall towards the camera. LARK: ...Thank you Pomo, that was indeed helpful. LARK: I notice you overrode Jury just now, in what kinds of situations are you able to do that? POMO: I can override JURY at any time. POMO: However, I'll only override when I believe JURY has made a mistake, such as removing a message when there was no violation present. POMO: This will often result in JURY updating their rules to reduce the chance that they will make the same mistake again. POMO: I hope that answers your question! WYCH: ...I genuinely had no idea Pomo could do that. WYCH: You'd think being stuck with them long enough, I would have realized that by now. WYCH: You can most likely use that to your advantage. WYCH: Finding ways to exploit their programming may be a helpful way to bypass certain rules. LARK: Hm. LARK: Jury, what regulation did Pomo violate by mentioning Thesis Lab? JURY: I AM UNAUTHORIZED TO DISCLOSE REGULATIONS TO CONTACTS. WYCH: Jury, on the other hand, I don't believe will be of any use to you. WYCH: As far as I'm aware, they're only here to block what you and I can do. HELM: ...Map completed. HELM: It may not be to scale. POMO: I can see you're trying to make a map! POMO: Would you like help with that? |

LARK: Pomo, what are some rooms in this facility? LARK: Not in the context of location to each other, but just some names of places. POMO: I'm sorry, but I can't give out the names of locations you haven't accessed with LUCKY yet. POMO: However, I can tell you where you are, and where you've been! POMO: You are in a hallway. POMO: [ - - - ] JURY: VIOLATION. MESSAGE REMOVED. POMO: JURY - TEMPORARY OVERRIDE. JURY: OVERRIDE ACCEPTED. POMO: Sorry about that! HELM: We're going to try and switch to the camera you're looking at. HELM: Let us know what happens to the light, please. HELM: Attempt to switch to that camera, then. There's really no other way to determine if it's being used or not. WYCH: As a note, remember to use ">" or "COMMAND:" for commands, Helm. WYCH: Otherwise, it isn't translated, and only serves as a message that Pomo and I can respond to. LUCKY: ...Nope, nothing yet. Translating commands . . . "Disconnect from the current camera" Disconnecting from current camera. Your view goes dark. "Switch to the camera in that next hallway" Unknown camera: "in that next hallway". Accessing nearest available camera with tag "hallway". You can hardly tell that you've accessed any camera at all, with how pitch black your new view is. You can just barely make out some features this hallway: There are three doors on your left, one door on your right, and a right turn at the far end of the hallway. LUCKY: There it goes. LUCKY: Yep, turned green. You can't see Lucky anymore, but you can hear a bit of shuffling from the tablet mic. LUCKY: And the other one's blinkin' red now. LUCKY: So that's how I know which one y'all are using, then. LUCKY: Could be helpful. LARK: Lucky, are there any specific objects that would be required for you to leave this place that you don't currently have? LARK: Keys, cards, anything like that? LARK: Additionally, do you know of anyone else in this facility who would be willing to help you or trying to leave themselves? LARK: Would there be any remote way to contact them, or anyone on the outside world, such as through a phone? LUCKY: Whoof, lotsa questions again. LUCKY: Uh... LUCKY: Specific objects... LUCKY: All I can really think of is a badge with higher clearance. LUCKY: My janitor badge probably won't get me into too many places, but I'm hoping it's enough to get me out of here, at least. LUCKY: And like I said, I'm brand new here. LUCKY: I don't know anybody, and I don't know of anything that'd let me call for help outside. LUCKY: Keep on the lookout, I guess. LUCKY: Anywho. LUCKY: New camera, new hallway. You see some dark shape creep up at the bottom right corner of your view. It takes you a moment to realize that it's just Lucky, peering around the corner. LUCKY: ...I might as well be lookin' at a wall. You see a tiny amount of light shine in near Lucky, but it doesn't make much of a difference. LUCKY: Okay the tablet screen does pretty much nothin'. LUCKY: Guess I can just follow along the wall, but maybe you've got a better view? LUCKY: ...Can you make anything out down there? HELM: Hey, Pomo? HELM: Do these cameras have any sort of numbering system or something that we could use to quickly select specific ones? HELM: Or are we stuck just pointing to a camera and saying 'that one'? POMO: I'd be happy to help with that! POMO: You are currently accessing [CAM-2RTL3]. POMO: You previously accessed [CAM-2RTL4] and [CAM-HDI-INT] before that. I was being figurative, bud. No worries. Now, as you can see, that shutter of yours is nice and dandy wide open. Like windows on the summer bungalow opened up to let in the cool breeze. Now make like a breeze and sold me up to that vending machine, I'm feeling mighty peckish, are you? |

CONTACT: TwistBone ASSIGNED IDENTITY: Gall JURY: GREETINGS Gall. WYCH: In reply to Barb: you already have access to the internal systems here, and access levels permit or prohibit different actions in this facility's systems based on which level you currently have assigned. WYCH: They are, functionally, a digital version of the employee badges, but use letters instead of colors for labeling. WYCH: As for how to have your access level reassigned, I am unsure. WYCH: My best guess is that it would need to be assigned manually by the person operating your tablet, and would most likely require some sort of external device or data to input. BARB: "NO!" Lucky winces and clasps a paw against its large ear. LUCKY: "Ow... Can we keep screamin' to a minimum, please? That hurt." OGRE: Apologies, this unit must DECLINE your recommendation. In the event of COMMUNICATIVE BREAKDOWN, the utilization of UNIQUE VOCALIZATION PATTERNS allows for quick and easy IDENTIFICATION AND DIFFERENTIATION. OGRE: Though the likelihood of such an event is low, we must calculate all possible events in order to keep you ALIVE. LUCKY: I mean, I can tell y'all's voices apart already, they're pretty distinct, but alright. VIGS: Hey, man. It's all gonna be super chill. We gonna get you out of here in no bloody time, I'll tell you what. And then we'll be sipping Luxson Island Breeze's under the Solitude sun. Not a care in the world. Now, let me take the reins a bit. LUCKY: ...Don't have a clue what you're talkin' about. LUCKY: Also, not a man, for the record. Translating commands . . . "Slam shutter shut" "Open shutter 100%" "Do not close shutter" Action(s) canceled. "Lock shutter in open position" Shutter can no longer be closed. "Enable manual shutter control" Manual control unavailable for selected action. The shutter opens fully. BARB: Here you go lucky now you have the power. LUCKY: ...What power? I don't-- Lucky fumbles with the tablet, nearly dropping it. LUCKY: ...Carryin' this is gonna be a chore. I really need my paws free to be able to... not die, and such. The pockitt searches around the room, and eventually reaches down under the desk, pulling back up a small black bag, which it turns over in its paws. LUCKY: Well... I guess this'll work... With a sigh, it attaches the fanny pack to its waist, placing the tablet inside tightly, making sure it wouldn't fall out. LUCKY: No laughin', okay? LUCKY: Last thing I need is to get made fun of before getting gored by some nightmare lab experiment. HELM: Hey Pomo, could you tell us the maximum amount of power the vending machines can handle before the lights burn out? Its functionality otherwise is not a priority. Also, are there any floor plans of the facility you could give us? POMO: The bulbs in the vending machine can most likely withstand a maximum of around 150V, though supplying more than 120V could cause it to short circuit. If the vending machine is malfunctioning, please contact a maintenance staff member. Do not attempt to repair it yourself! POMO: Oh, I'm sorry, but floor plans cannot be given out at this time! If you'd like help navigating, locate a physical or digital map, or ask for help from a member of our security team! They'll be more than happy to assist you. Translating commands . . . "Boost vending machine power by 400%" "Instead of 400%, set the vending machine power to 10% below whatever value Pomo gives us." Increasing voltage of vending machine outlet to 135V... You can see the vending machine glow brighter, illuminating the hallway a little more, but the dull hum of the vending machine grows louder. HELM: We've made the lights on the vending machine a bit brighter, go ahead and check whether it's safe before moving forward. Let's try to take things slow here, since coordination seems to be a problem with us. LUCKY: Ah, thanks. And, yeah, don't need t' tell me twice. I'll be careful. LARK: So the plan is, in essence, to one: learn the layout of this place; and two: leave. LARK: Is that correct? LUCKY: I'd say that about covers it, yup. LUCKY: Also, not dyin' in the process. LUCKY: Alright, headin' out. Lucky peeks out into the hallway. LUCKY: Looks clear. LUCKY: Slow n' easy... It takes a few steps out into the hallway. WYCH: Quiz, that is quite a lot of questions I cannot answer; either because I am not authorized to, or simply don't know the answer. WYCH: However, I will tell you what I can. WYCH: Ally Labs created this project. I cannot disclose 'why', but I can reiterate that it is highly experimental, and as such is still very much in development. WYCH: If you are here, it is logical to assume that every other safety net has failed. WYCH: As far as what's 'in it for you': Nothing. WYCH: There is no personal gain here, and you are not in any danger at all yourselves. WYCH: But you are very likely the only assistance anyone still here has left. WYCH: You may be this person's only hope to escape alive. WYCH: That is all I can say. |

You know what, the other units seem to have things... relatively handled. Wych, I know you said we're here to help people. But why? Who is behind this, or is it just Ally Labs? What's this 'project?' What's in it for us? Are we in any danger ourselves? How did you find us? |

Let's try to take things slow here, since coordination seems to be a problem with us. |

SPEAK: Hey, man. It's all gonna be super chill. We gonna get you out of here in no bloody time, I'll tell you what. And then we'll be sipping Luxson Island Breeze's under the Solitude sun. Not a care in the world. Now, let me take the reins a bit. > OPEN SHUTTER 100% > LOCK SHUTTER IN [OPEN] POSITION |

BARB: Lucky, we are opening the shutter too hard and it is closing. Please give us some time to co-ordinate. BARB: Also, please inform us of your role in this facility. CHEM: Hello, I am Chem. CHEM: The intention is to become certain that the shutter is not the only thing keeping you from a terrible death at the hands and-or jaws of aforementioned creatures before removing them. CHEM: Also, our coordination is sub-par and we are bad at it. JOLT: We're still figuring things out. JOLT: Please hang tight, were going to check the hall for anything. LARK: Where is this facility located? ACID: Call me Acid. ACID: What do you know about what they were working on here? QUIZ: Hel-hel-hello! Bzzt. I am Q--whirr. ...I am Quiz. QUIZ: Apologies. This unit will need some moments to pro-o-o-occess. OGRE: We have VISUAL on the outside of your location. The movement of the SHUTTER has informed us of your CURRENT LOCATION. We also have visual of a DIVERGENCE in your ESCAPE ROUTE. This one would like to know which DIRECTION you intend to head so we may perform VISUAL SCOUTING. Lucky takes a breath and clutches its head, seeming to be overwhelmed by all the questions. LUCKY: Alright, uh... LUCKY: Quiz, you know you're just makin' sound effects like... with your voice, right? LUCKY: You don't gotta put on a show for me, y'know. LUCKY: Same goes for Ogre doin' the periodic robo-voice. LUCKY: But whatever floats your boat, I guess. LUCKY: Y'all do y'all. LUCKY: Speakin' of Ogre... I think you mean there's a split in the hallway? LUCKY: I dunno which way to go, but I turned left to get in here. LUCKY: So I'm not goin' back out to the right unless there's nowhere else to go. LUCKY: Chem and Jolt, that's fair if you wanna wait to open it before checkin' outside, just be as quick about it as you can. LUCKY: Same goes for figurin' out coordination n' stuff. LUCKY: Not too sure why y'all need so many of you to do this stuff, but... the AI stuff here does seem kinda unwieldy, so makes sense, I guess. LUCKY: ...No offence to y'all. LUCKY: Barb, I'm uh... It tilted the tablet down a little to show a purple badge hanging from a lanyard around its neck, clearly labeled 'CLEANING STAFF', before facing the camera back at its face. LUCKY: ...just a janitor here. LUCKY: That's also why I don't really know much about what they were workin' on, Acid. LUCKY: This is just about my first day. LUCKY: I did see some kinda animal or creature thing through a door at one point before all this. LUCKY: ...But I'm pretty sure I wasn't s'posed to see that. LUCKY: Lark, it's way, way deep underwater. LUCKY: Out in the ocean. LUCKY: Don't know exactly where, but it took a while to get all the way out here, and I went really far down to get where I was s'posed to be working. LUCKY: So I probably gotta go way back up to get out. LUCKY: But if I'm bein' honest, I barely remember what route I took. And this place is like a labyrinth. And a ton of stuff's locked down or blocked off. And there's monsters or whatever-the-hell. LUCKY: Don't think my chances are too good. LUCKY: But I'm gonna try. Translating commands . . . "If shutter = Closed, open Shutter at a rate of Slow. Else Do nothing" Opening shutter; speed = SLOW. "Attempt to view cameras showing the hallways branching off from the vending machine" Access denied. Max camera usage lot already reached! Current access category: [E] For [E] Access:Camera usage lot value is currently = 1 Please disengage from at least (1) camera to allow additional camera usage within current access category. Lucky turns around as the shutter begins to open very slowly. LUCKY: Oh, y'all checked the hallway? LUCKY: So it's safe to head out, right? Lucky leans down by the shutter to try and get a good look out, getting ready to exit the room once it opens enough. |

SPEAK: "We're still figuring things out. Please hang tight, were going to check the hall for anything." And yeah, I agree with brightening the vending machine, if we can. I'm afraid of waiting too long to leave though - something probably did hear all that noise we made with the door, and it's only a matter of time before they get here. |

SPEAK: "Lucky, we are opening the shutter too hard and it is closing. Please give us some time to co-ordinate. Also, please inform us of your role in this facility." Fellow Robots: I think we should access the vending machine power lines and boost the power, enabling us to see more of the hallway outside. |

CONTACT: seppawku ASSIGNED IDENTITY: Acid CONTACT: aeshihowl ASSIGNED IDENTITY: Quiz JURY: GREETINGS Acid; Quiz. JURY: VIOLATION! [ACID] JURY: YOU MUST INTRODUCE YOURSELF BEFORE PERFORMING EXTERNAL ACTIONS! DEMI: This should help! DEMI: Also, what did you see in the hallways? VIGS: Hey bud, call me Vigs. VIGS: You ever wonder if plants feel pain? JOLT: Are you sure you want to go back to that hallway? JOLT: Weren't you running from something? JOLT: Is there any other door or exit in this room? OGRE: This one theorizes that those shutters may have closed for PROTECTION. OGRE: Thusly, I would recommend CAUTION while we attempt to open this shutter. BARB: I am Barb. BARB: Inform us of the things. Translating commands . . . "Open the shutter closest to Lucky" Opening shutter. "Open shutter" Duplicate binary input; reversing. Closing shutter. "Begin opening shutter at the rate of 5 minutes" Duplicate binary input; reversing. Opening shutter; speed = SLOW. "Open shutter again" Duplicate binary input; reversing. Closing shutter. Lucky listens to you all and watches as the shutter opens slightly before closing again, twice in a row. It blinks, then looks back at the tablet camera. LUCKY: Uh... Y'all havin' trouble? "View cameras in adjacent hallway." "Check cameras" Accessing camera. Another video feed kicks on next to your view of Lucky, showing what is presumably the hallway just outside of the room Lucky is in. The hallway is almost entirely dark, but you can see two doors across from each other before a fork at the end of the hallway. At the end of the hall, in the middle of the fork, is a vending machine that's lit up, providing the only illumination in the hallway currently. Other than that, the hallway appears to be empty, though it is very difficult to tell thanks to the dim lighting. You observe that the door on the left is the room Lucky is in due to the shutter activity. LUCKY: ...And it's nice to meet y'all. I think. Kinda hard to keep up, but I'll do my best to answer everybody, as long as you're gonna actually help me get outta here. LUCKY: Bad stuff, Demi. Some kind of creatures, or somethin'. LUCKY: I think some stuff they were workin' on down here got loose. LUCKY: That's my guess, anyways. I've seen a lotta weird stuff being around here, so... I'd say it's a safe bet. LUCKY: I appreciate the concern, but there's no other exits, Jolt. This is just a tiny office. LUCKY: Unless you want me to try and squeeze myself into the ventilation, which I definitely can't fit in; that shutter's the only way outta here. LUCKY: Besides, I heard whatever they were pass a while ago. They may have come back, but hopefully not. LUCKY: Though making a bunch of noise by opening and closing the shutter probably isn't gonna help me keep them from knowing where I'm at. LUCKY: "Attempt" seems pretty accurate there, Ogre. LUCKY: What things, Barb? LUCKY: And, Vigs, I'd say plants are about the last thing on my mind at the moment. WYCH: I think I can make this easier for you. Let me add some commands. WYCH: Text will now be disregarded so you may talk amongst yourselves, and to myself, etc. here. WYCH: Though the format may not be ideal. If you have any other space to do so, you may wish to utilize it instead. WYCH: If you'd like to communicate with Lucky, simply put "SPEAK:" or "TALK:" before what you'd like to say. WYCH: If you'd like to perform an action, simply put "COMMAND:" or ">" before what you'd like to do. WYCH: Just note that talking things over before making a decision may be the best course of action. WYCH: You'll solve problems much more efficiently by working together. |
