The Client: H-Hey! You holding up?
The Courier: Take it slow, he just woke up-
The Rabbit: She's fine.. I wanna talk to her anyway.
The Courier: Long as you're sure-
The Rabbit: Alone if it's alright.
The Courier: Kicking me out?
The Rabbit: Just for a few minutes.
You give your neighbor a little apologetic nod.
The Courier: In that case I'll see if I can prep some tea for you in the kitchen.. Tutor?
The Client: I'd love some..
The Courier gives you a little salute as they scurry out the door.
The Courier: Don't get too crazy right now.
The Rabbit: I promise nothing. Tutor? Close the door.
You oblige, carefully making sure it's sealed all the way.
The Client: What's up-
The Rabbit: I caught you making deals with a devil on my behalf.
The Client: How did you know?
The Rabbit: Because the difference between a miracle and meddling are very clear when you've seen both. Bit of a bold move on your part..
The Client: I'm sorry-
The Rabbit: I would've done the same, don't apologize.
The Rabbit pauses, taking a sniff around.
The Client: Is everything alright?
The Rabbit: Checking to see if we're being monitored. I'm a tad curious about the terms you've agreed to, it's not something to take lightly.
The Client: A executioner, seems she shares some common enemies with us. It felt more than worth trying to collaborate with her under the circumstances..
The Rabbit: Mm.. even the kindest of entity are opportunists at heart. You just pray that your goals align enough to find true solidarity.
The Client: I think such is the case. She's looking for a revolutionary..
The Rabbit: And is there a target in mind?
The Client: Not yet.
The Rabbit: That doesn't bode well...
The Client: Do speak.
The Rabbit: You smell of death, the natural kind. You've encountered one who some places would consider a reaper, a psychopomp, guardian of the departed... which means whatever she fears is a crime against life itself.
The Client: That is how she phrased it.
The Rabbit: I want to meet her if there is chance, if it's that dire I refuse to be passive in such matters.
The Client: That's one other thing actually.. she wants me to look for confidants. I thought of you.
The Rabbit: Consider me in then. I have folks I could rally for this, screen through her. Crapshot as well but I know a craftsman in town who's been under dire pressure, we'll need to be able to arm folks if group efforts come into play.
The Client: The Creme family..?
The Rabbit: Just the eldest daughter, the others have been taken south due to allegations of financial fraud. Can't survive reporting all your finds, can't afford to get caught. Certain they've got offers to her, we'll have to pray she hates them more than she fears them..
The Client: You'd like to handle that?
The Rabbit: Consider it more than done, if nothing I've plenty of luck. The apartment has a couple of other folks I might look into.
The Client: Mm, I can do that..
The Rabbit: You need to haggle with her, make sure she is giving you every resource she can offer. A good entity understands that a longtime working relationship's the biggest reward one can have if they plan to make the world.
The Client: What should I ask for?
The Rabbit: Everything a good investor can get.. maybe a more literal one if possible. I don't know anyone who'd put together the funding for us though...
The Client: We'll make it work..
The Rabbit: She needs you just as much as you need her, don't play softball-
The Rabbit pauses, his hairs and ears stand up.
The Client: Are you okay?
The Hatted Grim: He's caught on wisely... I heard the entire thing.
The Rabbit: I didn't think you'd just show your face so quick...
The Hatted Grim: You're a man prepared to die, you knew you would eventually. How does it look?
The Rabbit: Warmer than I expected.
The Rabbit takes a look at you and then back to the entity.
The Hatted Grim: Something caught your eye?
The Rabbit: Nothing.
The Hatted Grim: You shouldn't be lying to a future comrade.
The Rabbit: I don't trust my own judgment enough to speak it out loud, but I assure you it does not make me any less willing to operate with you.
The Hatted Grim: You don't have to worry about me.. but you're about to become your friend's most important accomplice. More than me, more than the sword at her hip. Are you ready?
He gives the two if you a little bow.
The Rabbit: Gave me a second chance, be a shame to waste it doing nothing.
The Hatted Grim: Mm..
She places down a tome on a nearby table and makes her way toward the door.
The Rabbit: Leaving already?
The Hatted Grim: Everything I need you to know is in this playbook, we're starting tomorrow. I leave with you the mark of the anchor, your resolve will get people through storms to come.
