*Jazz hands* I installed the game recently. I like petsims so I decided to play it. Yay.

I waited a bit before adopting since I had something to do while it loaded, and someone showed up while I was gone. Oops...

I gave them some plushies to play with. They liked it.

I decided to end the day by adopting a raster of my own. I chose a Cosmonaut because maybe it won't be as rude to me. I named them Apple because they are red.

hello! my name is cherry! i'm not a super tech savvy person, but a while back i wanted to give friendzoo a try. admittedly, i've avoided the forums for a while since social media isn't really my thing, but i finally caved since thought it would be a nice opportunity to meet other folks who love their rasters and, as indicated by the title of this thread, document some of our adventures together!

before we get into the real meat of it, i wanted to start by introducing my rasters! i currently have six living cozily in my computer system. though all of them agreed to being a part of this log, some of them are a bit more shy than others, so i won't force them to sit in the spotlight any more than they want to.

my first three rasters are slimer, velvet, and bai. when i first installed friendzoo, i waited to see if any lost or wandering rasters would happen by my system. interestingly, this group of three showed up together!

slimer is a very playful and excitable raster, though he is an individual of few words. he likes to communicate primarily through emojis, of which he has a vast collection of. he is always thrilled when i show him a new one! they're a bit of a troublemaker and a prankster, and has a tendency to get on the other rasters' nerves.

velvet is also a raster of few words, even more so than slimer. despite this, she is always the first one to greet me when i check in on them each day. she spends much of her time sleeping, and loves being dressed up in different accessories!

bai is a gentle and thoughtful soul with a strong passion for learning. they are almost certainly smarter than me! we enjoy teaching each other things, and bai often comes back from the digital plane with new fun facts to share. they think the glasses make them look "sophisticated" as they put it...

i don't know much about these guys' past. bai is the only one who has shared any details with me. the gist of it is that something terrible happened to their former owner, and they were forced to move on. i'm just happy they are safe with me now.

my next two rasters are domino and fox! i adopted them fresh from the adoption center, and they still have much to learn.

domino is perhaps the shiest of my rasters, and often flees into the case at the sight of anything strange or new to him. however, he loves watching cooking videos (i am a chef!) and trying new treats! despite his shyness, he is very close with fox and slimer in particular.

fox is a pretty anxious individual -- he has never left my system to explore the digital plane. i understand that fear of the unknown. however, he is certainly full of energy! he loves to run around my screen, usually with a toy, and he isn't shy about it! he also loves to watch movies -- but only ones with happy endings!

my most recent raster is a luckster named chacha, acquired during the ongoing advent event! i adopted her from another user, and though she is still very fresh, she has quite the personality!

chacha loves to lounge about on velvet's pillows and eat as much as she can fit in her stomach! after learning her name, the first thing she learned was food. surprisingly, she doesn't really watching cooking videos the way domino does, i assume because it makes her hungry.

and those are my rasters! over time, i hope to share some funny and exciting moments with you all! anyone is welcome to comment and ask any questions to either me or my rasters! <3

(also, my roommate is hoping to get into friendzoo as well, and may be making her own log in the future. i'll let you know if/when that happens!)

i have spent hours maybe days of my life trying to come to terms with being powerless . i can see and i can think but the state of the body i inhabit is laughable . what if you looked down and all you saw was the stubbiest most useless legs capable of absolutely nothing . every thing is dark in here . how agonizing it is to live a life confined to this one room looking at the same shelf that i can not and will never reach and the same chair that has lost all comfort . i wish i could say you do not know what is coming to you but no one is even listening any more . no one is coming here . no one can take off the stupid bow that has been atop my head for weeks . meaningless existance

...i have no idea if this is the correct place for what i'm dealing with, but it's worth a shot.
if you've seen me around the forums, you know that i am a scrap diviner that travels a lot. this means that i work on a laptop a lot of the time, on various hotel and motel internet connections. apparently, the one i was staying at recently had...problems, because there appears to be a creature roaming my desktop and getting into trouble. it's already eaten some of my work files and i've only been able to identify it as a "gravebeak", which seems to be linked to this game, friendzoo.

should i download the client to try and communicate with this creature? trying to type into note documents just makes it erase my text and shuffle the letters around. as far as i know, this behavior isn't even normal for the game's usual...and i really can't have this thing keep messing up my work!

hi everyone!! it's reaching the end of summer where i live, and while crit and i are trying to get a summery update out to FZ soon (really soon!), we also want to celebrate with our first official FZ Raster Meetup.

the meetup will take place tomorrow at 3 PM (PST), and i want to know who to expect raster-wise. sorry for such short notice! just post if your rasters are interested in joining in.

no particular theme, and participants will be sent home with a special party favor, as well as some fun photos!

[OOC note: the meetup will be streamed, recorded, and put onto youtube (probably about 15 minutes long, this is a test run), participants will be given an exclusive event toy, and a thread will be made in the FriendZoo discord for discussing the actual roleplay elements between rasters, based on the footage of the event! this is a test run, so quirks may have to be ironed out in the process.

hi everyone! i realized while beta testing that my goal with FriendZoo is to help rehome rasters that need a better place...something that feels especially relevant in the wake of the announcement yesterday. my raster castor has done a lot of work in the digital space putting up ads and posters that our computer is a safe place for scared or lonely rasters to go, and we actually seem to have attracted some in need of help. we spent all night getting to know them, and helped them come up with little bios for posting here. in addition, i was able to modify the plushes crit set up for the "base game" so that they have a toy just for them to come along with them in their new home.

here's our current foster rasters!

PICKLES- HE/HIM
pickles was spawned in a home with too many rasters for the host to take care of, and would really rather somewhere quiet- he isn't the most playful guy, and wants a place where he can relax and chill. he loves to snack and talk about different kinds of food, and his favorite thing to do so far is watch food channels with me!

NENE- IT/ITS
nene doesn't talk much about its past life, but it gets easily frustrated when people pry too much- please be gentle with its feelings! it isn't a very excitable raster, but it's fine with taking things slow, and doing things like reading and watching hosts play games at its own pace.

MOLDY- SHE/HER
moldy is a self-described grump, and gave herself her name as a reclaimatory act towards her previous host's views of her. she says that she doesn't want to go along with anyone who "can't keep up", so be aware!

BUTTER- THEY/IT
butter would really prefer to go to a home with a lot of other rasters, or at least to a host with a lot of time for companionship. they aren't the most adventurous raster, but they try to make friends easily, and really need some love in their life.

MINTY- HE/HIM
minty is a very "go with the flow" guy, and came from a home where his more relaxed attitude wasn't appreciated. he struggles with his self image sometimes, but knows he has a good shot at a loving home here!

[multiple people can apply for the same raster, this is not first come first serve and will be judged IC. don't take it personal if you do not get the raster- it's roleplay!]

hi, my name is mocha, i’m posting through critter_catcher’s account. he helped organize a bunch of the rasters that helped out the friendzoo development team and asked us what our thoughts were on the situation. we all have a lot of thoughts. but i am the best speaker in the group, so people elected me to speak in this post.

when people see me. they see a cute licorice cat. and i am! i am made of sweets and i love looking at pictures of desserts and drinks and other sweet things like me. but it feels like people also see me as a pet. it took me time living with rags and the other rasters here to know that i am not a pet. or a program. i am a person. it was hard to understand at first because of the game i was in but i am working with rags to make more things that help assert personhood. i think it would be nice for rasters to have things like more decor. and things for hobbies that you TCPs can do. like cooking and knitting and puzzles. i think it would be nice.

but we know that not everyone sees us like this. we knew when rags told us that we would be allowed to roam that not everyone would like that! but he also told us that TCPs are not so dissimilar. people don’t like it when you spawn in “weird” or “intrusive” places. people don’t like it when you ask for respect even though you are so much smaller and so much “stranger” than complexes. we are different in that we are on computers and phones. but we are still people. we want to be recognized and rags and crit went through a lot getting that to happen. but not everyone knows or wants to acknowledge that even if it is told to them.

i have done a lot of research on the outside world and there’s a lot i dont understand. but i ask rags, and he tells me things. i remember hearing about body modification and things like hybridization and being very confused at first. people can change their bodies so drastically? it sounds cool, but kind of scary. and rags taught me that it is kind of both, depending on whether the person wants it. hearing that someone can go beyond that and alter the mind of a raster without asking them is definitely scary. but people in the external world face this too, at least with their bodies. i can’t speak for any of you. but considering the amount of TCPs that seem to be hurt through similar practices, it seems like something that should be approached carefully.

if we cannot get rid of this kind of modding, which it doesn’t look likely, please educate the rasters you’re hosting and let them make their own decisions. it is very scary. they may become scared of you when you tell them. but they deserve to know. we’ll be putting the information that this kind of thing exists in spaces in the digital plane where rasters are prone to frequent, and try to spread awareness where we can.

if any rasters read this, or are shown this: please know that you always have the choice to leave your host if things go awry. we’re working on setting up multiple refuge devices for rasters to go if hurt, both run by hosts and their rasters and some unmanned.

Hiiii Cuttle here!!!! I want to know everyone's favourite rasters! And maybe a bit about why as well I'll go first: I love Cremegill and Swirlshell, but the BEST EVER has to be Flaprays! I like nautical creatures a LOT so that's probably why. My current and only raster is Yarn, a Cremegill sent to me by a friend ^^ It always looks so spaced out LOL.

hi hi tiny cute people of ff = * x *= iv been getting more used to fz as part of my routine, not that i do much else... but um i have 2 rasters now n believe it or not i think they have the same favorite color!!! they both liked black sweaters when i let them dress themselves and i spent lik 40 min putting every single item down... like what is the odds of that theres so many colors in fz so i started thinking am i just unlucky is this some kind of fz omen? or are some favorit colors more common than others n im overthinking it???? also is favorite flavor the same as color idk?

with the recent public release of the virtual pet game 'friendzoo', there appears to be a glaring oversight in how one certain feature affects computer operators all accross morbit. the virtual creature programs themselves, which i will refer to as 'friendzoo rasters' or simply 'rasters' from here out, are given a form of pseudo-autonomy. friendzoo rasters are given the luxury of not only living on the designated sector of your harddrive they were deliberately installed upon, no, rasters are given the quite risky permissions to move around your operating system by themselves -- this includes moving over your network if your machine has access to the morbit mwide mweb.

as far as i have been able to gather, friendzoo was not designed to be a malicious acting software, so this is by no means a call to remove your copy or to scrutinize the developer team. but you should be aware, whether you have the game installed or not, friendzoo rasters may very well find a way to access your system. in theory this seems like it some sort of intended feature for rasters to be able to venture out into other player's homes. but in practise, rasters tend to not be able to locate actual installs of friendzoo to place themselves into particularly well, nor do they come with a function to send them back 'home'. thus, you may end up with a raster present on your operating system that is stuck somewhere it can not be interacted with. this can cause issues, especially on older machines. if access the internet, specifically if you engage in file sharing or instant messaging, this leaves you open to friendzoo raster possibly tagging along your activity uninvited.

one of the most obvious tell-tale signs for a raster having nested its way into your system without you knowing is immense slowdowns in very specific locations. you may find yourself unable to load certain folders, or having sudden unnatural spikes in CPU usage that have no other reasonable explanation. this may occur in a few areas for you even, rasters seem very fond of moving around in no particular pattern.

getting to the actual point. in order to catch a raster and place it somewhere it is not causing problems, you can either attempt to find and relocate them manually -- this is easiest if you are already aware of what folder they may be inhabiting, remember to set your file explorer to 'show hidden files' and 'show extensions' (a raster's extension will generally be '.frn') -- or, the more accessible method would be to install (or start) friendzoo, and leave the game open with a sort of 'lure' item placed for a while. rasters, much like real animals perhaps, are programmed to be intrigued by their 'food' items. moreso than they are intrigued by the rest of your operating system, rasters are thankfully easily persuaded through digital snacks. in the simulation, if you leave the door open, the raster can safely make its way into the game by itself and operate as it was intended, with visuals and all.

what can you do with a raster that has been caught? i am unsure at this time. not everyone has time for friendzoo shenanigans after all, and even when inserted back into their intended folder they may still decide to roam again. my suggestion is attempt to contact the previous raster owner, or try to find a new owner to send the rasters to. alternatively, i have noticed that a raster's roaming behavior will stop entirely while they are inside of an archived/compressed folder, but that is more of a temporary solution than a permanent one. rehoming rasters seems like it would be ideal. raster files can not be deleted. hope this helps for now.

hi everybody! with the launch of friendzoo, i was thinking we could get a little general chat going!

i've been playing with my guy, castor, for a few months now- i was a beta tester for the game and my lil guy was a rescue from one of the other devs, [CRITTER_CATCHER]. he figured i could take better care of him, and the two of us get along really well!

today, he's sitting with me while we watch videos together. we're keeping an eye out for any rescues in our "area" (hehehe how does that work digitally...) and i think our big focus will be helping with those!

but, yeah! how's everybody's rasters doing?
