[OOC] Cloudmist Caves - Pichi2214 - 08-13-2021 Hope this is the right place for this, if not mods feel free to move it. For the sake of developing my made up game a bit more so roleplay is easier I wanted to make this thread so anything can be discussed and people can contribute cool ideas! I'd still like to have the final say in what ideas are implented and how to make them fit in with what I have in mind for the game, but I'm very open to suggestions and working on this with people if anyone has cool ideas Feel free to also suggest townsfolk or character/location ideas for the game if you'd like! the concept for Cloudmist Caves is a Stardew Valley/Rune Factory esque farming game, the town is located in a cave system underground where you have your home cave and live as the local farmer. You grow mushroom based crops (idea by ignispark) and can take care of weird little critters to harvest their products, while interacting with the townsfolk and befriending them and learning more about this world, exploring the cave system! The cave system is deep underground and in a reverse to how it is on morbit the higher you go the more dangerous it will get, with the likelyhood of horror-esque monsters appearing and attacking you. The safe cave system is seperated by a thick layer of something akin to clouds, everywhere below the layer it is safe and everywhere above it is dangerous. These clouds change throughout the year, effectively ending up creating something akin to seasons and changing up the environment and crops you can grow, as well as other season based differences. One of the main stories next to just befriending the villagers and helping out the town is climbing to the surface, uncovering secrets and the history of the world on your way through the upper cave levels. (maybe even secret NPCs?) After you reach the surface you unlock a special endgame dungeon, Mount Rushlight (idea by King-Clod) where you climb even higher! This area is a lot more challenging than just the upper cave levels and meant to be a true challenge, vs part of the normal story line, so reaching the top is not something most casual players do The artstyle of the game is similar to stardew valley and a somewhat retro looking pixel style, the villagers are just based on a variety of different morbit species (but kept rather simple due to the nature of the art style) RE: [OOC] Cloudmist Caves - King-Clod - 08-18-2021 I was thinking (now if this doesn't fit the game's aesthetic that's perfectly alright) that Mt. Rushlight has a sort of candle aesthetic to it. As you climb the mountains there are candles everywhere that almost look like stars, but as you get higher you start to be able to make out more of the actual stars that were previously hidden (by another cloud layer maybe?), and once you reach the top you can make out all the stars, as well as the moon. I wasn't entirely sure what the easter egg would be, though. Maybe a special cosmetic item, or the developer proposing to their partner through the game? Maybe a bit of ingame lore about an old townmember shrouded in mystery up until that point (like Gaster kinda)? Or maybe you disperse the second cloud layer and unlock the stars for the surface world? Idk! RE: [OOC] Cloudmist Caves - A.VOID - 10-07-2022 I'm thinking about making the two TCPs I plan to be roleyplaying on the forums here initially be really into this game too as a fun little thing to add character... do you think Cloudmist would have multiplayer like Stardew, where your co-player could live on the farm with you? (If not, they're almost always in the same room unless they have something to do so they could be looking over one another's shoulders but the thought of them sitting together playing the same game session is cute lol) |
