[MORBITMON] Morbitmon Basic Info Thread - skinstealer - 11-30-2019

okay this is gonna be real sloppy to start but we gotta start somewhere and we'll refine it as we go

morbitmon is a badly named crossover between morbit/pokemon, is completely noncanon and intended as a fun community thing highlighting two big interests here in the community. it's a community project, meaning that while things get cleared by the official team, people can contribute their own content to the project. so far we've already had a new typing (horror type) contributed by @victorianflorist and people expressing interest in bringing their fantheons/fan regions in, so that's pretty exciting.

like i said, this list is gonna be refined and probably made into a proper writeup over time, but have a list of Shit to start:

  • each region/pantheon has their own league
  • eight gym leader/gym leader equivalent minimum for a region
  • zones can have multiple leaders
  • elite four not necessary before champion fight, can have alternate style challenges
  • each region must have a champion
  • each region must have a 150 pokemon minimum regional dex (a fun but optional challenge!)
  • new pokemon can be made for regions but do not have to be At All (i will probably not be making any for taverne/luxson)
  • beta pokemon are allowed (raitora real)
  • horror type is a new typing created by vic
  • regional evolutions are very much a thing (might make a few of these actually)
  • new mechanics (z-moves, g-max, etc) can be introduced for regions (though obviously they can't be included in showdown)
  • trainer characters can be anything (including gods) though pls leave canon ones to their creators
  • actual battles for this can be done through pokemon showdown (excluding new pokemon/new regional evolutions/beta pokemon, sorry)
  • tournaments/gym challenges may be organized for showdown if enough interest comes up
  • roleplay is permitted and encouraged for those who want to
  • legendaries do exist in multiples and you are permitted to give your trainer characters them, but they are disallowed from tournament/gym challenge battles for the sake of fairness
  • you can suggest new features/worldbuilding elements in this thread, if you're cleared feel free to make a thread detailing whatever it is
  • characters can be at any skill level
  • feel free to make roleplaying boards/chats on this subforum
  • feel free to make posts advertising battles/trades on this subforum etc
  • no NSFW content allowed you animals
  • if you're unsure about anything, just ask
  • there's a discord role + channel for this, but keeping things to the forums would be nice too for clutter reasons

enjoy, let's have fun!

Horror type Mechanics
- Horrified condition overrides the pokemon's initial type and is turns it into a single-typed horror-type pokemon
- The Horror-type has no type advantages or disadvantages
- The pokemon's nature changes to "Horrified" which ups both Attack and Defense at the cost of Sp. Defense and Sp. Attack
- Pokemon become Horrified by getting hit with horror-type moves from wild horror-type pokemon
- Each attack inflicts a degree of horror radiation on your pokemon
- Once the pokemon reaches a critical level of horror radiation it becomes Horrified
- Healing pokemon in the pokemon center causes horror radiation to be healed
- Horrified Pokemon have the appearance of a horror and all physical differences and mutations that come with that
- Horrified pokemon that could evolve prior lose the ability to evolve upon horrification

SCRAPS

Just like on Morbit proper, scraps are discarded fragments of memory or emotion. However, with the assistance of Pokemon, the people of PokeMorbit have found ways to manipulate and utilize them for a variety of purposes.

TMs

Back in the day, new moves would have to be taught to a Pokemon through traditional training and practice. While this was a good challenge and a fun bonding exercise between trainer and Pokemon, it was extremely time-consuming and difficult for some. Now, however, scrap users along with psychic Pokemon have found reliable ways to manipulate scraps into containing all the knowledge necessary to learn a new move into a quick, compact package. These Tutor Machines, when used on a compatible Pokemon, will instantly deliver the knowledge and training for one specific move. The process takes only a few seconds, and the Pokemon will be able to use the move immediately as if it were an expert.

POKEMON MOVES

Many species of Pokemon are natural scrap users, and can manipulate scraps around them during battle. This can serve to amplify the power of their attacks, change the typing of a move, or even allow them to inflict status effects on enemy Pokemon. However, the exact effect of these techniques is entirely dependent on what scraps are in the area, and the Pokemon using them only have a vague idea as to what each one might do. Sometimes using a scrap may cause more harm to the Pokemon using it than to its intended target.

BONDS AND BOND STONES

When a Pokemon grows close to its trainer, a special kind of scrap may form known as a Bond. These scraps are filled with a specific moment the trainer has shared with their Pokemon, and the Pokemon can use it to access new power. Depending on the Pokemon, some may be able to use special techniques in battle, temporarily evolve into a more powerful form, or grow gigantic in size. These special scraps are usually contained in Bond Stones. Each Bond Stone is specific to one Pokemon and one Trainer- it is an item formed from the special connection the two share, and as such it cannot be used by anyone other than those two. While a Bond Stone is not strictly necessary, it does stabilize the raw emotional energy of the Bond, making it easier to use and its effects more reliable. Many trainers like to incorporate Bond Stones into accessories for themselves or their Pokemon.
