RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - AceOfNothing - 05-04-2023

Does Delaney have any hobbies? Any special interests she wants to know about when she does front?

What does Tiptoe do in dreams? Is he just there to fight people or is there more to it. Does he do this on purpose?

Did Bloodthirsty become a butcher/taxidermist due to something from their session or is it just a passion?

Does Unzipper still contemplate downloading suspicious files or have they learned a lesson?

Why is Jacob in Petals group

Would Slop try to fight people through spam emails?

What's something Matchbox can't live without? What's something she can't stand?

Anything Rusty hates fixing? Is it more... machine specific, or would she try and fix things like rocking chairs and plush animals as well (basically how broad is "fix anything)

Does Delaney have any hobbies? Any special interests she wants to know about when she does front?
still figuring that out, but i think she likes music a lot, as well as watching horror films and wandering around at night. she doesn't participate much in the system's script-writing career, but does kind of wish she contribute- she just doesn't feel confident enough in doing "solo" work, and doesn't have anyone in-system to collaborate with.

What does Tiptoe do in dreams? Is he just there to fight people or is there more to it. Does he do this on purpose?
tiptoe has his motivations and goals, and keeps them very secret. some people say that he's looking for a specific person, and fights people in order to break their dream disguises/portrayals.

Did Bloodthirsty become a butcher/taxidermist due to something from their session or is it just a passion?
bloodthirsty has a condition we haven't named yet (possibly just "vampiric"? might lean too hard on fiend shit) that requires her to feed on blood regularly, so having TCP-scale livestock for her to feed on in relative arm's reach is pretty handy, and selling the rest of the sheep is a good way to keep affording rent and supplies.

Does Unzipper still contemplate downloading suspicious files or have they learned a lesson?
oh no they definitely still do. their therapist is very tired of their shit

Why is Jacob in Petals group
petal's a strong TCP, jacob respects that. they're also very protective of their best friend, clove, and clove's just as deep into this as they are.

Would Slop try to fight people through spam emails?
i think slop is more of a twitter fight kind of woman. maybe even youtube comments

What's something Matchbox can't live without? What's something she can't stand?
cant live without: trouble, she needs something going on at all times or she gets extremely antsy
can't stand: being challenged on something and having it actually backed up

Anything Rusty hates fixing? Is it more... machine specific, or would she try and fix things like rocking chairs and plush animals as well (basically how broad is "fix anything)
rusty hates fixing tiny, fiddly things that require a lot of squinting and fiddling. she would much rather fuck with a big piece of machinery any day.

while she specializes in mechanical fixes, she would definitely try her best to fix other things, or point you in the right direction of someone who could.

What is slug's type
still figuring that out but she's definitely got a thing for a certain other member of her system...going off that, she likes guys who are a little bit Weird (or More Than A Little), and respects people who have proper regard for "human" life. she's kind of sick of the majority of the fronters in the system eating/killing people in order to satiate their blood fever, even if it's on accident, so she'd really prefer to be with people who see her point of view on that.

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - skinstealer - 05-10-2023

Hello, it's Algor now. I come bearing characters, most of them robots.

Grind- The greater god of time and order, with motifs of steel and gears. Grind takes care of Precipice in Taverne, and is known as a god that oscillates between being kind and harsh depending on his strict moral code.

JB- A robotic construct working for the modern Menagerie, specifically as part of the Devil's Advocacy Rehabilitation Project. While many assume he'd be cold and "mechanical", he tends to make conversation easily and enjoys the company of his coworkers.

Manners- An AI construct native to Fallow's Island, Manners helps maintain computer networks for the various settlements spread across the island. It is a quiet person that seems to enjoy communicating to people from their computers more than in person, almost like a desktop assistant.

Fierce- No details for it yet. Perhaps you can help me develop this table?

Jackal- A lifter barebones that customized itself to make it more cuddly and friendly. He enjoys giving people rides on his back, perhaps even as a job? Maybe he works as a taxi...

Display [Headspace]- A member of the Tuner system, Display is one of the more frequent fronters and very easily identifiable by his glitched speech. Identifies heavily with his system's past as a lab experiment, and has a lot of parallels to their in-person body on his headspace form. He is a gentle person who struggles with learning socialization and the ways of the outside world.

Uncertainty- Tuner's "creator" and mother figure, and a former Devil's Advocacy scientist. Her whereabouts are unknown post-Tuner's escape.

Fenrik [No image yet]- A member of the Toybox system, appearing as a M30W botley inspired by old computers in headspace. He is very shy until you ask him about his interests, particular game design.

Allie [No image yet]- A member of the system known as Katt, and an introject based off of a plush construct roleplay character. She is very firm in her identity as a fighter, even if her real-world body is weak.

Shrump Boondoggle- A TCP lawyer that's found themself trapped in a mysterious location simply known as the House. They were very proud of their work as a lawyer in the outside world, and seem to be very energetic and friendly, albeit somewhat lonely.

Lo-Wave- A robot type TCP that resides in an assisted living facility. He is prone to pondering the nature of humanity and what it means to be a sapient person, often at a detriment to his own mental stability.

Bump- A Maze Trial-goer that works heavily with Epoch, the trials' resident botanist. They use overgrown vines to ensnare people and protect Epoch when he is working, and is completely devoted to him.

Bobbin Pin- A faux plush type TCP with doubts on whether they really qualify as a person or not due to their artificial status and strange creator. All of their posting online is screened.

Database [Supercyber]- An AI that works as a private detective for those who link with it. It does not like to talk about how it died in its former life, and prefers to focus on the task at hand.

Automaton [Supercyber, no anthro design yet]- A high strung gang member who gets into more trouble than he can handle. Linked with Database, uses its skills to help conduct illegal business.

Bonbon- A lab assistant for Dr. Hyde, Bonbon is very scattered and all over the place. Even still, it's got a quick mind when it comes to experiments.

Hyde- The resident mad scientist of the Nexus. If you come bearing tickets, she'll be willing to conduct experiments on you...

Meckle- A creation of Dr. Hyde, possibly a robot...? It is silent, but very attentive to its duties.

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - MarxzVulpez - 05-10-2023

What can you tell us about Grind?
How big is he? How well or poorly does he get along with the rest of the pantheon, and I guess by extension other characters closely adjacent to the pantheon like Demons (Bucket, Miller, Chelsea etc) and such? Does he have/employ any Demons of his own? Can he purr and does it sound like a very large phone vibrating?

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - skinstealer - 05-10-2023

I could tell you many things about Grind. He's my oldest character and while I haven't worked on him in a long time, he means a lot to me. I love him very much even if our ideals and morals have developed beyond each others'.

Grind is about ten feet tall, give or take. He is very very large and a formidable foe to any mortals and gods alike who dare to try and cross him, though not many try.

He has mixed relations with the pantheon for sure. He gets along well with Wax (who is a father figure to him) and Alloy (who is a nephew figure to him), mixed relations with Wretch (his manic sister) and extremely negative relationships with Spit and Rein respectively (his even less liked older sister and brother respectively). He likes Bucket and wishes they could get the hell out of this mess, and has a great deal of pity for Chelsea. Him and Miller get along to some extent, but he is suspicious of her and wishes that she and Wretch weren't so close (spoilers for post-Void Session? Perhaps, but whatever). Does not get along with Eastwood or Carrie and gets into fights with them whenever he's over.

I have not decided whether to go with a demon for Grind yet- if he ever did, it was very much past tense, and she died of an illness a long time ago.

He does not purr, but can chuff. It probably sounds very  weird.

It probably sounds like when you jam the gear shifter in a car...

Are the patterns on Database's body painted on or are they sort of like bolts inside a plasma globe?
How would Fierce react if someone actually tried to put a dinner plate down on their back?
Can you give more details about JB's daily work routine?

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - skinstealer - 05-11-2023

Are the patterns on Database's body painted on or are they sort of like bolts inside a plasma globe?

They shift around a lot, but I'm not entirely sure what they are. I think texturally they look a lot like a 90's robot toy with stickers/paint on it but I don't think it'd get scuffed easily. Benefit of being dead?

How would Fierce react if someone actually tried to put a dinner plate down on their back?

Long resigned sigh. Congrats this is the first fact I have ever come up with for it.

Can you give more details about JB's daily work routine?

Oh this is a good question. JB tends to work very closely with Maes prior to Charon's signup with the lab, but has had some issues with fulfilling her accommodation needs- not out of malice, just struggles to keep up with them and find a balance. He's been working on it for some time, and I like to think that he asks Charon for tips and tricks.

More specifically though: He manages a lot of things like tracking potential breaches in the walls of the underground facility- there's a horror pit down there, so it's kind of crucial to keep an eye on that. He also handles stuff like getting people oriented if they're new to the project, and is...well, he's kind of a jack of all trades. I like to think that he's just kind of a handy guy so people put him to work doing anything and everything. He doesn't mind. Very agreeable person (at least outwardly).

After work, he likes to head back to his apartment and watch reality TV, I think. Nothing cruel, more just...hm. Hard to explain- maybe more stuff along the lines of "My Cat From Hell"? Maybe we'll go with that.

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - skinstealer - 05-13-2023

i am here for questions... of a rin-related variety

here's some guys, too lazy to get images so you will live

Caine- A member of the Comorbidity system, and not a very well-liked one at that. He doesn't like feeding on other peoples' blood for personal reasons, and is willing to go to extremes to avoid it. Looks like a massive, unkempt wolfman in headspace.
(please dont ask why he doesnt want to do it that can get saved for a mature Q+A)

As Of Yet Unnamed Raster System Member- A member of the system known as Tuner, formerly a pair of two Friendzoo-spawned rasters merged together into one introject system member. They're prone to heavy mood swings, and change their headspace form between two different critter species depending on whether they're manic or depressive.

Shriek- A member of the Toybox system, and one of the main fronters. Heavily invested in his system's writing job, he is committed to helping come up with characters for people in-system to use. Appears as a plush devil bear in headspace.

Wilson- A tearful devil concept working in social services. Wilson is prone to extreme emotions, but keeps them as suppressed as possible- but at just of extreme of an energy cost.

Devo- A bean bear that works at Laurie's in the laundry room. Devo's known for his flights of fancy and dreams of romance, but struggles with his history making this hard for him to safely obtain.

James- A collision type Maze Trial-goer that wields giant craft scissors and impressive telekinetic powers. James is a paranoid person who finds his only solace in his partner Limbo and the art of papercraft, all welcome breaks from being forced to run from murderous TCPs in trials.

Hazard- A touch type TCP living in an assisted living facility for TCPs. He doesn't fit in with most other sensory typings due to incidents that happened in his previous living situation, but still wants to find friends where he's at now.

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - ThreadLurkingComorant - 05-13-2023

Is Shriek good at screaming?

How would James feel about horror games?

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - Blue_Fox - 05-13-2023

got more info on Hazard? seems like a neat lil guy

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - MarxzVulpez - 05-13-2023

could weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

get a song for each of them? also maybe some thoughts on what each thinks of their own gender(s) and how they approach that?

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - skinstealer - 05-13-2023

Is Shriek good at screaming?

shriek has a hard time raising his voice outside of emergencies, and absolutely could not do it on command. he's a total poser

How would James feel about horror games?

probably similarly to how he feels about horror movies- interesting, but he prefers ones with a focus on survivors and killers vs more abstract horror, even if they trigger him sometimes. he gets really into slasher-style stuff most of all.

got more info on Hazard? seems like a neat lil guy

i'm still working on his rework, but, some facts:

-writes cookbooks for his job- he's a very good chef, something surprisingly heavily valued in Morbitian TCP culture if you can believe it! but he'd like to get into fiction writing at some point
-really fond of the concept of fishing, but living TCP scale fish are kind of difficult to find
-was spawned at the TCPdex research facility and raised there- and even with his bad experiences, he doesn't hold it against the facility itself
-has issues touching rough surfaces, even more than the average touch type- he's extremely averse even to pleasing ones as well, and prefers a nice middle ground like blankets

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - AceOfNothing - 05-13-2023

Any/All of them: Favorite mythical creature or Cryptid, or ones you'd just think they'd vibe with

so the funny thing is that all of these characters except james are trans men, whoops. but id say they have pretty varied ways of expressing that, so here goes

Caine-  gore cw for album cover
Show Content

caine is transmasc and doesn't really have a preferred way of dressing irt gender presentation- he just wears the bare minimum effort-wise, usually stuff like t shirts and underwear in headspace, and maybe some sweatpants irl. he doesn't like being misgendered but doesn't protest too much unless it happens in system (usually on accident) , mostly due to resignation. hasn't really explored gender euphoria much.

As Of Yet Unnamed Raster System Member-

transmasc, but very fluid in presentation. kind of thinking that one of their previous components was masc and the other was fem, and while they make up one system member now, they still have that fluctuation when swapping between forms. the toony form'd side prefers femme wear (typically club-like and somewhat revealing), and the hazydaze side prefers cozy masc/androgynous stuff that feels good when dealing with pain stuff. has some dysphoria/dysmorphia over their irl body being skinny and flat chested.

Shriek- cw: suggestive, sorry

transmasc with femme leanings, especially enjoys being likened to a doll in a sort of feminine sense. similarly to the aforementioned hazydaze, shriek tends to prefer cozy androgynous stuff on his off days- but he's also kind of similar to caine in that it usually classifies as t-shirts and soft pants. works good with the myopathy. in-headspace and on date days, he tries to dress a little fancier and more femme, but generally needs help getting dressed. has dysphoria related to disability stuff.

Wilson-

transmasc with masc/androgynous presentation, with a desire to wear more femme-y stuff down the road, perhaps? feels way too insecure to properly try drag looks, but he thinks about them sometimes. maybe a bit more than sometimes. has extreme dysphoria about certain aspects of himself- or rather, due to how metamorphosis works with body features, if they were taken away/reduced.

Devo-

transmasc with femme presentation, including a bra that creates the illusion of a bust to help with top dysphoria. devo is willing to cuss someone out for being misgendered, and is extremely hostile towards people who treat him certain ways because of the way he looks. definitely also goes for comfy casualwear when working, but it's more of a disability thing than a style choice.

James-

james is a TCP and is cool with the pronouns he got randomly slapped with, but i wouldn't really classify him as cis/trans. he's just a comfy aesthetic gay guy who wants to wear turtlenecks and slacks for the rest of his life if he ever gets out of here. enjoys wearing his witch's coat that limbo got him, and thinks it makes him look cool.

Hazard-

hazard on the other hand Was Not cool with the she/her pronouns hes got slapped with after a point, and tried out they/them pronouns out for the majority of his time in the tcpdex facility. he eventually realized he/him was more his deal after a bit of soul searching, and goes with that. even still, he doesnt really identify with a Specific Gender Identity- he's just hazard.

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - skinstealer - 05-13-2023

Any/All of them: Favorite mythical creature or Cryptid, or ones you'd just think they'd vibe with

Shriek- the Toybox system has kind of met a lot of Actual "Mythical" Creatures and i think shriek's favorite is and always will be ghosts.
Wilson- has a weird fixation on the concept of "devils", specifcally the earth concept of them
James- he's a sucker for zombies and other reanimated things. he is partners with a zombie type, after all.

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - knux400 - 05-13-2023

Does James have normal size scissors for papercraft or does he just use the same ones he wields in combat?

How would James feel about the Clock Tower series?

RE: [Q+A] Mortis Ramble Thread - skinstealer - 05-15-2023

rin popping in to answer these

Does James have normal size scissors for papercraft or does he just use the same ones he wields in combat?

yep! he's got a lot of crafting supplies of all kinds

How would James feel about the Clock Tower series?

would love it from a survival horror standpoint but would feel weird about the scissorman thing considering he is also using those for violence

and now it's benny time
you know the deal. here's some dudes.

Ditzy- A member of the Toybox system, Ditzy resembles a fashion doll in headspace. People don't tend to take her seriously due to her seemingly "airheaded" nature, but she's one of the best problem solvers there.

Bunny- A horn type that found his way into the House through ominous means. He likes to speak cryptically, seemingly finding some sort of humor in it.

The Cashout System- A hydra type Trialgoer with three system members typically found cofronting- Jackpot, Bankroll, and Scatter. Taught about the value of money upon spawning, these three can't seem to agree on what to do with currency...

Layton- A loud questgiver who runs a shoe-making stand in the Nexus market. His designs can get...questionable.
