RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Pichi2214 - 05-31-2019

Let us carefully lay down on the floor so that we're more on the same size as Alto and not towering above her (and maybe if she wants, even though I doubt she will trust us enough for this yet, she could hug us easier this way)

Also I just pretty much second everything said before, aka us being a collective and that therefore our mind can be very jumpy and chaotic, but that we want to try our best and work things out and that we are very fond of Alto and want to be there for her and make her happy as best as we can, even if we might struggle with this at times.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - seppawku - 05-31-2019

getting down on her level is a great idea. besides filling her in on being a lot of people, i think it's important to. idk. make sure she knows that we're explaining what's up BUT that doesn't mean we don't still have a responsibility to be good to her and keep our promises. cos i don't want this to feel like an excuse

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Pichi2214 - 05-31-2019

oh yea! also seconding that we should apologize for being as chaotic as we are
And we should tell her our name!

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - cosmo - 05-31-2019

You carefully lower yourself to the floor, minimizing the height difference between you and Alto. Alto cowers as you move closer, but once she sees that you have not come to exact vengeance upon her for her outburst, she seems to relax.

SOMBROUS: We're very sorry about that, but please have some patience. We're still getting the hang of things ourselves. We're a collective of many people working together so our temperament differs depending on who's doing what. Once we get used to each other and the situation, though, our behavior should be more consistent.
SOMBROUS: And yes, I did mean what I said before, though...

TEACH: Metaphor

SOMBROUS: I was referring to making you a family, which will take some time. We could also make you an actual quilt though, if you'd like.

ALTO: I understood what you meant the first time. But this is exactly what I'm talking about! You just keep putting things inside my head that I don't want or need without warning or permission! How can we be a family if you can't even listen to me?

SOMBROUS: I'm so sorry, Alto. I meant to provide and explanation but I don't want to seem like I'm trying to excuse our behavior.
SOMBROUS: I can promise you, we all want the best for you and love you dearly. We want to be there for you and make you happy, as best we can. Maybe we've been too hasty in our attempts to welcome and reassure you and-
SOMBROUS: We're doing it again, aren't we? We should give you some time to process and you can get back to us when you're ready. We can make somewhere for you to rest and-

Alto cuts you off.

ALTO: No!!! You say you care about me but you won't listen to me! I don't want any of the things you make and I don't need you to decide for me what I need! I just... I just need a friend. Why do you think I keep talking to you, you big jerk? I- I don't want to be alone.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Orange Juice Goose - 05-31-2019

Say something to the affect of "I'm listening"
Just sit there and wait. No commands. No more talking. Let Alto have the first moment in their life to actually ya know, think and get their bearings without something happening.
Though because we have so many eyes, don't over-focus them on Alto if they start showing signs of anxiousness. Just let them wander a bit to the side, maybe one or two look at one of the objects of interest in the room if it gives Alto more space to think.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - King-Clod - 05-31-2019

Seconding OJG's suggestion.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Pichi2214 - 05-31-2019

"I'm sorry, we won't talk us out of this any further, yes we did mess up and we are sorry about this. We won't do anything else now though, I promise that... so if you want to talk... and I really mean just talk with us, you can do that and we will listen to your words. We really do want to be your friend." also maybe add a friendly smile to that

This would be my suggestion as to what we could say, seconding that we shouldn't do or say much more, but just saying "we'll listen" seems kinda... rude? distant? like we're pouting? or something like that, so I want to phrase this all a bit kinder. And actually acknowledge that we messed up without trying to justify our actions.

I want to give her time to talk, think and respond, but also depending on how Alto responds if it is something like her agreeing to try being friends with us (or just generally... if she doesn't hate us now, I suppose) I think the first thing we should do is properly introduce ourselves to her, since I believe we didn't even tell her our name yet and like... as friends we should know each others names, right?

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - RedGreenBlue - 06-01-2019

"Well, what would you like to talk about, then?"

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - victorianflorist - 06-01-2019

"We're right here, and someday we can make someone just like you, once the limit raises of course. For now it's just us."

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - seppawku - 06-02-2019

promise her we won't leave, then! she has our full attention, and as soon as possible we'll make another tcp - we do need to be a good friend too, though. supporting only one-two sentence answers, honestly.. maybe ask her how she's feeling?

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - cosmo - 06-02-2019

SOMBROUS: I'm here to listen, then. I should've sooner, I'm sorry, Alto. You have my full attention so please tell me what's up and I'll listen, I promise. We really do want to be your friend.

ALTO: I don't like it when you do things suddenly without letting me know first. It scares me.
ALTO: I wish you'd listened the first time when I asked you to stop, but if you'll give me warning from now on... I guess I can forgive you.
ALTO: I want to be friends too, that's why I got so mad I think. When you didn't listen.
ALTO: So thanks for listening now, I guess. I think I feel a bit better now.
ALTO: You'd better keep your promise and listen from now on though!

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - seppawku - 06-02-2019

we'll do our best to be worthy of forgiveness and keep to that! hmm, um, we could try and make conversation.. ask her if there's anything here she likes? or if she wants something we can get her

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Orange Juice Goose - 06-02-2019

A couple of points but I'm bad at not being brutally honest:
"Sorry that we didn't stop sooner, we did not understand the totality of the request at first."
"Situations may arise where we forgo permissions, but those are probably rare."
"Your future friends will have other priorities than you, and might not be as capable of changing."
No commands, of course.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - nonexistentPumpkin - 06-02-2019

>"Understood. We will do our best to abide by these requests."
>"However, we have a certain pacing to our thoughts, a sort of queue of actions we can't take pauses between. If we ask if we can create or teach something, and you say yes, then the request WAS your warning and it'll happen immediately after. If you say no of course, we'll skip the action and continue the rest of our thoughts as though nothing happened."
>"We're sorry, we were so focused on trying to get you acquainted with existing we didn't stop to think you might want to get acquainted with us."
>"All that said, it's time to get into things. We wish to create consoles across this station showing basic things such as the status of the station, what immediately surrounds it, and the time. We also wish to create a room for you, so you may rest and entertain yourself. Allow us to give you these, and after you've rested we can set out on the first steps towards making this quilt."

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - 1011686 - 06-02-2019

>from now on, if there's anything you want to know about, just ask, and we'll teach it to you. You can choose when and what you want to learn.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - cosmo - 06-03-2019

SOMBROUS: Understood. We'll do our best to keep to your requests and be a friend worthy of your forgiveness! I'm sorry that we didn't stop sooner, we didn't entirely understand what you were asking of us at first. From now on, if there's anything you want to know about, just ask and we'll teach you. You can choose when and what you want to learn. There may also be some situations where I'll have to do things without warning but that should be a rare occurrence.
SOMBROUS: That said, we should probably start getting some stuff done. I'd like to create consoles throughout the station, and a room where you can rest if you so choose. Does that sound okay?

ALTO: Uh, alright, yeah! I'd be okay with that, I think! Thanks for the heads up.

You turn your attention back to the space station, ready to get to work at adding your various improvements, when you realize that something has changed.

The TCP limit is now 3

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - seppawku - 06-03-2019

OH!! oh!! ask alto very quickly if she would like a friend! if not tbh it's ok, we rly should focus on her for a bit... also *thumbsup* alto is so CYUTE

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Orange Juice Goose - 06-03-2019

My idea for a resting area:
Beanbag circle with a TV.

I rather not compartmentalize the space station yet.

Consoles:
Command Console
-Overview of station status and capabilities.
-Overview of subsystems and linked consoles.
-Can clear permission requirements (Override) on other consoles or lock everything out (Lockdown).

I say wait on any new TCPs because we don't know what the situation on other gods is. We should be enough company for Alto I hope.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - King-Clod - 06-03-2019

alrighty lets GO
not with making tcps just yet trust is important but
Alto's ROOM heck YEAH

Create: Surprisingly sturdy pillow fort, with little holes in the blanket walls here and there to peek out of and one of those hanging bead doors (more rooms can be connected when more friends are made)
Create: Glow worm lamp
Create: 4 books, "The Curious Case of the Chimera Curse" (a fantasy/mystery novel about a group of kid detectives trying to figure out what's causing the folks in their town to turn into chimeras), "A Sailor's Guide to Tying Knots" (Self explanatory), "The Misadventures of Francine Fin" (A lighthearted graphic novel about a mermaid), and a diary (With "For Alto's eyes only" engraved on the top). The graphic novel and the mystery novel both have a note explaining that they are fiction, and are meant for entertainment, not as valuable information. The diary has a note on the top that says "Feel free to write in this!"
Create: Fuzzy blue pen with googly eyes on it.
Create: Patchwork Elephant Plushie (magic item)
Whenever Alto, or any other TCP, for that matter, feels especially stressed or paranoid, they can hug this plushie to have it magically assist them in figuring out why, what may be causing them to be feel this way, and to help them figure out possible solutions.
A plushie therapist, in a way.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - MelHoopoe - 06-03-2019

Beanbag circle with a TV sounds like a great idea. Why not give Alto a game console and some games too?

If she says yes to a friend, we should ask her what types of friend she might be interested in, as well as if she'd like anything in particular around her.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Clockwork Citrus - 06-03-2019

maybe a pillow type? it would be soft and friendly?

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - RedGreenBlue - 06-03-2019

Yeah, no new TCPs. We should start planning for an adventure soon, since I'm not sure if we can communicate with the other players just yet, and I'd like to get that situation sorted out as soon as possible.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - cosmo - 06-05-2019

CREATE: Consoles, pillow fort, bean bag chairs, TV, glowworm lamp, books ("The Curious Case of the Chimera Curse", "A Sailor's Guide to Tying Knots", "The Misadventures of Francine Fin", and a diary labeled "For Alto's eyes only"), pen, game console with video games

Alto lays the sleeping cap on the wagon before running into her new room to investigate.

Alto loves her new room! It's so cozy-looking and full of neat things. She doesn't really know what a diary is, but she likes the idea of something being just for her! She says that she wouldn't mind if you taught her about the strange little book and any accompanying skills that might go along with it.

You ask Alto if she would like you to make her a new friend, as you now have the opportunity to do so. It's okay if she doesn't though, it's important to focus on her too! Alto tells you that yes, yes, YES, she would ABSOLUTELY like a new friend. You're nice and all but having a friend who she could see and touch without having to visit that weird semi-real patchwork room would be awesome.

CREATE: Patchwork elephant plushie

Whenever a TCP feels especially stressed or paranoid, they can hug this plushie to have it magically assist them in figuring out what might be causing them to feel that way and to help them in figuring out possible solutions. Due to your synergy bonuses, this magic item has no health cost. Instead, the TCP who uses it will experience intensified emotions until either their problem is resolved or, barring that, until they cease usage of the magic item.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Pichi2214 - 06-05-2019

Spawn festuca type or grassball type or whatever you wanna call it
I don't know what strategic purpose it will have but I can promise it should be extremely adorable and a good potentially sturdy friend!!
(I am sorry if I get annoying with asking for them, but I really really like the idea of this type)

Oh and also TEACH Alto: reading and writing
And just explain the concept of a diary to her manually, a teach feels unnecessary for that

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - victorianflorist - 06-05-2019

Spawn: Ivy Type

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - seppawku - 06-05-2019

spawn: marimo type!!

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - RedGreenBlue - 06-05-2019

Again, I'm not sure if we can actually spawn another TCP right now, the slot's probably taken. I would have avoided asking Alto if we could create her a new friend, since I really wouldn't want to disappoint her like that.
But I guess we can't go back now, so...
SPAWN: Conviviality

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - King-Clod - 06-05-2019

Spawn: Foreshadowing type
might be useful
and cute

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - MarxzVulpez - 06-05-2019

Seconding festuca type, teaching reading and writing and explaining diary usage,
ask permission first, but if there's one thing that a really groovy chill room needs, it's a vibrantly colored shag rug so i think we should create that, also some cool games for the game console like Wipeout's Pro Skater 2 and Cooking Tcp (basically Morbit Cooking Mama)

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - King-Clod - 06-05-2019

Oh also, I'd like to say to Alto,
"Oh! A diary is a book that you can write anything you like in, some people like to write their secrets in them, others put in little details about their day, and some people just like to doodle in them... it's for whatever you can think of, or want to put in it! And, I promise that I will never read it unless you want me to. It's something you can know for sure is just yours, no one else's."
"Also, when you have time, could you tell me which one of those books you like the best? I tried to give you a variety of genre's and styles, so I can know what sorts of books you'd like most in the future!"

Also, seconding shag rug, Wipeout's Proskater 2, and Morbit Cooking Mama (after warning Alto, of course)

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Pichi2214 - 06-05-2019

oh also with a warning to alto and the potential new friend:
I wanted to do this in the last update but i didn't get around to posting before it, so I'll do it now. I want to make a little nature room so to say, where there are all kinds of plants and stuff, since even if we are in space I want Alto to know plants/nature!!

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Clockwork Citrus - 06-05-2019

i like the idea of marimo type

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Orange Juice Goose - 06-05-2019

I like the moss ball/marimo idea but more of the nature type side. I think we should think a bit more on synergy bonuses for future team members but we should in no way be limited by them.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - cosmo - 06-06-2019

TEACH: Writing

You explain to Alto that a diary is a book that she can write anything she likes in. Some people like to write their secrets in them, others put in little details about their day, and some people just like to doodle in them... What she wants to do with it is up to her! You promise her that you won't ever read what she writes without permission. This is something she can count on being just hers and no one else's. You also ask if she would let you know which of the books she liked best once she gets the chance to read them all. You tried to give her a variety of genres and topics so that you can know what sorts of books she'd like most for future book-gifting ventures! Alto says that she will let you know.

You tell Alto about a few ideas you had for improving the base; a shag rug for her room, some games for her console, and a greenroom where TCPs can get to know plants and nature. Alto thinks these are all good ideas, but she's worried about her new friend getting overwhelmed like how she had. The games and rug should be okay since they're small, but she'd rather wait on the greenroom for a bit. Maybe once your new pal is settled in, you can dedicate it to them! Like a gift! Also, it might help them get used to objects popping into existence like that once they have time to get used to being alive and are properly warned about what's going to happen beforehand. Alto's been thinking of lots of ways to make sure her new friend's first moments are better than her own!

You decide to go ahead and create the things that Alto okayed real quick before spawning your next TCP.

CREATE: Colorful shag rug, video games ("Wipeout's Skater Pro 2" and "Cooking TCP")

SPAWN: Marimo type

A marimo type TCP appears!

They sit down on the floor outside of Alto's room. It seems like they're waiting for something to happen.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - King-Clod - 06-06-2019

NAME: Cross-stitch
TEACH CROSS-STITCH: Speech, Reading

Oh, and be sure to tell Alto that her new friend is here!

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - seppawku - 06-06-2019

NAME: adagio
but ^^ speech and reading! we shouldn't teach them anything they don't absolutely need yet, but definitely tell alto about them.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - nonexistentPumpkin - 06-06-2019

>NAME: Tenor

Also thirding teaching speech & reading!

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - victorianflorist - 06-06-2019

NAME: Appalachia

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Pichi2214 - 06-06-2019

I second >NAME: Tenor
also >CHECK Tenor

I would start by greeting them, >TEACH: speech, introduce them to being alive and explain how things work (aka the teaching and creating)

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Clockwork Citrus - 06-06-2019

name tenor

TEACH tenor. Friendship

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - RedGreenBlue - 06-06-2019

Tenor is a good name.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - cosmo - 06-07-2019

NAME: Tenor
CHECK: Tenor

Tenor is a MARIMO TYPE TCP. Currently they are doing pretty okay! They are waiting to see if anyone will come to greet them. As a NATURE TCP, they are made entirely of their typing and lack fluid.

You greet Tenor, telling them that you're about to teach them some things you think they will find useful. They don't respond at all, probably because they don't know how to yet, but you get the feeling they heard what you said.

TEACH Tenor: Speech, reading, friendship

Tenor thanks you for these skills! They feel that they will end up being rather useful indeed.

You let Alto know that her friend is here and she comes running out of her room. Upon seeing Tenor, she flings her arms around them in a hug.

A wordless second passes and then Alto steps back. In shaky clicks, she apologizes. She's so sorry! She doesn't know what came over her! She was just so... happy. To see them. And she couldn't stop herself but she shouldn't have done that! Is Tenor okay?

Tenor makes a squishy sound not unlike laughter. They say that it's fine with them, but she should probably ask other people first in the future. Alto hastily agrees, looking quite embarrassed.

After a pause, Alto tells Tenor her name and welcomes them to the station. She really hopes that they'll like it here. Tenor thinks Alto is a wonderful name! They introduce themself as well, adding that they are sure the two of them will get along fabulously.

Oh, and Sombrous is around here somewhere. Alto gestures vaguely in the direction of the sleeping cap. Tenor can put that on and talk to you if they'd like. You're a lot bigger than them though, so Tenor shouldn't be surprised! You're a little scary but not really worth being afraid of... Alto means that as a compliment! Really! Tenor makes their laughing sound again and says okay.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - seppawku - 06-07-2019

!!!!! let's greet tenor properly! maybe not as, enthusiastically, as alto, but it'd be nice to ask if they want a hug when they put the cap on. i love them

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Orange Juice Goose - 06-10-2019

I would like to greet Tenor properly while we have a good chance. Things tend to get out of control when TCPs are involved so we should do it now.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - 1011686 - 06-10-2019

>Create telescope.
Ask Alto if she could would be ok with having a look around the stars while we talk to Tenor. There should be other people here too, or at least there will be soon. They'll probably be far off in the distance though. (I assume from what we've seen so far that we're on some variety of floating island, is that right?)

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - Pichi2214 - 06-10-2019

I second greeting our new little friend properly and offering a hug!!

And with a small warning to the cats:

>CREATE: green room

Tenor's own little room with many plants, probably some small marimos and a pond! Also it has wateproof beanbag chair for relaxation
They are also definitely allowed to say if they prefer a different room, if so then this will just be a general relaxation room!

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - King-Clod - 06-10-2019

Oh yeah! Tenor's room!
I'll second Pichi's idea for a little pond, waterproof beanbag chair, and small marimos, with a few adjustments.
The outside of the room should be a blanket fort, like Alto's room, with the blankets on the outside in a fashion resembling a flower bud.
It should also be next to Alto's room, with a patchwork fabric zipper door connecting the two.
The light in the room can be one of those lights made resemble the sun's rays, since I don't think the distant lights of other stars will be enough for any plants we ight try to grow in there.
Let's add in a stereo system as well, both the amplify the room's relaxation potential, and also because music helps plants grow! It's waterproof, of course.
Lastly, a stepping stone path so that other TCPs can get through without falling into the water, I think that should be good!

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - seppawku - 06-10-2019

^^i like the plant room and all the details as a relaxation room!! i think we should wait to do anything for tenor's room at all til we talk to them though ;;

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - cosmo - 06-15-2019

CREATE: Telescope

Alto gives you a look and you realize that you had forgotten to warn her before creating the telescope. She glances at Tenor, who doesn't seem to have noticed or minded, and relaxes a bit. Seems like at this point she was more worried for Tenor's sake than her own. You ask her if she wouldn't mind taking a look at the stars for you and she begrudgingly agrees. If you need her help that badly, she guesses she can give it a try.

Alto reports that there is absolutely nothing interesting out there except for the stars which are very pretty but aren't exactly doing much. There is a small green dot that is moving a bit, she'd think it was a weirdly shaped star if it weren't for the moving part. It's still pretty far away though.

You give the kitties a heads up and make Tenor's room.

CREATE: Greenroom with water, plants, waterproof beanbag chairs, and a tunnel connecting it to Alto's room

Tenor thanks you, saying that their room looks lovely! They'll explore it soon but first they'd like to get to know you a bit better, if that's alright by you. They slip on the sleeping cap and appear in your patchwork room, waving at you cheerfully.

RE: TCP: RECOVERY SESSION - seppawku - 06-15-2019

hi tenor! it’s nice to meet you, we’re sombrous! if you want anything in specific we can try and make it, or just talk for a bit—?
